Starter motors are supposed to draw a ****load of amps man so don't worry about that. A 12v starter can draw up to 1000amps on a decent size system (talking mining machines though..)
As Elton said are you sure your battery is good? That'd be the first point of call. Sounds like it may be on its last legs.

I have a battery in that when we checked it after charging has just over 12.5 on the multi-metre. Tried with just the battery and she didn't do much either, then hooked up a jumper pack just to give it that little bit extra but she wants to know nothing.

this car is doing doing my head in.

Mate, I have read through your thread and the car hasn't actually started yet. You say the engine turned over 1 or 2 times then the starter stopped. Maybe you should pull the spark plugs and turn it over by hand to ensure there isn't any other issues going on here. The engine should turn over pretty easy and I've found motors with similar starter issues only to find someone screwed up the timing and it was valve on piston related not starter.

Yeah, haven't started yet, but the only thing is that I did turn the motor via crank pulley with socket and power bar with the plugs in and she turned over really really good... Sportsracer gave me the same advice but just haven't had time to do that and see what's going on... And when I bought it the guy told me that it was running start to mid last year...

Friday if possible, and I'll bring it back early saturday morning??

And uhm... Engine is out, and waiting... And I can't seem to find the door handles... Will have a look around through all the stuff in the shed when I have more time doing so...

Can you guys tell me where I can buy all the mounts for this 1.8t motor to fit in my Mk1.

Already done a bit of checking and I am gonna swap the floors over so that I have the sub-frame mounts and also the transfer box mounts in the right place.

Need help, pretty urgent as I am possibly starting with all this on sunday and would like to order the mounts and while waiting for them I am going to do some body work and get the floors transferred and engine bay cleaned out and smoothed.

Will get dad in with the welder to make just go over the weld coz he can weld much better than me.

And I was thinking of doing the sleeper look... Bigger steelies but also stretched, and just try and keep it as plain as possible.

                  Cheers

                    Just Caddys or Crazy Quifs.

I found the Crazy Quifs ones didn't fit too well and I ended up modifying them.

If you're using 02A/02J there are also these mounts but this is just for the gearbox not the engine. I used these and they were pretty good. @@ Seilzug Getriebehalter 02A Golf 1 G60 16V Turbo @@ | eBay

Well, as if things couldn't get worse, I have to postpone my trip to pick the S3 up until somewhere around the 15th. No trailer available in canberra for two weeks...😡😡😡

Other than that, I found an awesome thread on another forum and this guy is busy with what I want to do:

He is pretty handy with tools as well, and I have been browsing around on that forum for some ideas as well and there is a few things that could help in the golf build. And that is from cosmetics to performance etc... Maybe this forum could be help for some you guys.

Pulled the spark plugs out to try and start the golf but the starter motor still just makes a click noise and doesn't turn at all...

Check the motor by turning it on the crank pulley again and she turns very smooth and no hick ups...

NEED HELP FIGURING THIS OUT, please someone help... Would really like to sell a running motor to a forum member, rather than them having to spend more on the motor...

Sounds like the starter is gone dude.

Or are you sure there is enough power going to the starter?

Well, I have the starter in it which I bought of you foff and have had some jumper leads on it to see if the battery is the problem, but she still only pushes out and makes the click sound for when it pushes out.
