Just a quick question as well, my dash is Mk2 GTi if I am not mistaken, is there a LED kits to just make it a little better looking for that dash or do I have to go buy seperate lights and install them myself???
Would like to change the rev and speedo dial clours to blue with the needles being orange and then just make the indicator light and all the little small ones that it uses brighter as well.
Does all the 20V 1.8T engines use the same mounts? Coz I found a guy in the UK who can supply with all mounts needed in the engine bay to hold the engine and gearbox... But did a bit of reading and aparently some 1.8T engines don't all share the same mounts, IS THAT TRUE??
And can someone tell me what the thickness is of the firewall in the Mk1? Might cut the whole firewall out and replace with brand new flat sheet and possibly a bit thicker than original. And it will help me with getting the smoothed bay I am after.
I also need to know the thickness of the firewall, and do you guys reckon cutting out the complete firewall and replacing it with a flat sheet to make it smooth would have an influence on rego later?
You just need to get your calipers out and go and measure the thickness. At a guess I would say 1.5mm. You will need to check the ADR code and your local government agency as to whether its legal or not.
Thinking about cutting out the firewall means you are probably into this project pretty deep now. Got pics of how it sits at the moment? Would be really good to see some of the work you have done.
Only picking up the S3 on friday night in Sydney then driving back. Coz I have class on the saterday and a b-day party. So probs won't even get much time this weekend but I am aiming to start on monday and do about 2hrs worth of work each day. Even if it just means cleaning the engine bay and stripping for the first week or two.
Lunch time tomorrow I will be on my way and I'll be a happy cruzer to Sydney, and an even happier cruzer back to Canberra with my S3 on the back. And my good mate who has been housing my Mk1 has volunteered to come around and help as much as he can...
I feel like a little kid when its time to unwrap christmas presents...
