A few small dings, mainly in the roof nothing unfixable though. The car is very straight for its age.

          • Nice one mate, are you doing them by hand?? Hard work that. Are you cutting them down to 2000 grit? What about about polishing, how are you going to do that.

            • I've done a bit by hand, i was going to sand blast them to get the powder coat off but i stripped them chemically instead. I've used an orbital sander for most of it so far, need to grab some finer grit paper tomorrow only hit it with 400 so far. Will also have to do a bit of work on the lip as they have a bit of gutter rash.

              • Yea, they should come up good. I'm also interested, do you think it would be worth it to buy an electric buffer at all...? haha

So will they be polished or painted?

I'm getting a mate to do it, just going to set up a bay in my garage and have a go. He is a spray painter by trade so it should turn out good.

I personally prefer the look without them, the set i have is missing one and they are plastic so cant polish them

                              • Im trying to work out the colour of the car, it has no colour code sticker on it.

It is an aussie built car so i looked up the aussie colour charts for 76 and they have flipper blue which i think is correct. I spoke to my old man and he reckons it is that colour he had a beetle the same colour.

I believe that same colour changed to either miami blue or florida blue after they stopped making them here.
