Nah I'd rather replace them as the hole is quite large in the middle one and I do a lot of country K's

Will also be giving the rest of the car a closed door respray when funds allow in the original alpinweiß (as the sticker in the boot says)

Okay so here comes an update dump (more refined version on teamflogmotorsport.blogspot.com

The rundown, in short sharp sentences:

Bought welch plugs, but I bought 35mm plugs like an idiot. My friends got 36mm ones for me. Struggled and finally got the old plugs out. New plugs still too small for some dumb reason. Next weekend my mates neighbour comes up and makes them bigger with solder and a hammer. They fit. Replace gearbox as we found a hole from where a driveshaft has previously come off and smashed into it. Go to put it back together, have to replace cam gear that was somehow damaged. Managed to put the timing out as my cam gear has no key way for some dumb reason. Finally get it running. Drive from my house into town. Blow a welch plug on the way. Towed home. Decide to swap engines with the defected one. It gets 7million degrees and then floods. Eventually swap with the help of all my friends the dodgy way as none of us have an engine crane. Got it running. Drive it into town and we had forgot to do up a hose, no big deal. Drive it for 3 days. SAPOL puts an end to my Mk1 glory with a defect for "engine smoke (oil), mismatched tyres, no handbrake, unroadworthy brakes". Found another one to continue the story with.

Sorry if that was hard to read :/

tl;dr got a Golf running, got defected, buying another

Now, here's some photos, I hope they're generally in a chronological order

      Beard on.

Also, my Lloyd Alexander, my friend and I painting his SR70 KE70 with a paint roller, and two of all the cars

NOW!! New Golf! Story goes, original owner died, it sat in a shed for 10 years, the current owner's brother came across it and told the current owner, he stars fixing things to sell it, I come across it, and am now buying it. 9/80 build date.

I hope you enjoyed this bulk update of **** all, sorry about the format

          xx

I certainly don't although as I'm sick of defects this one will stay 100% stock until I can afford a decent reliable daily. All I plan on doing is swapping wheels with some Mk1 steelies with tyres that aren't who knows how old on them and painting them black with the chrome cap....or maybe silver....I dunno. And also GTI springs and struts if they're any different, just for a handling upgrade

                    Sooooooooooo tidy

The passenger floor looks like it's been as dry as a nuns privates for it's entire life as there's not even a hint of rust under the carpet, even found some factory paperwork

Yes I got home fine sorry for not posting mum

Stopped in Mt Bryan (about halfway) to suss everything was alright, and man those wind turbine blades are huuuuuuuuuuge

Also dat economy, I filled it to the brim before I left and ~200km later only used 1/3 of a tank sitting on 110km/h, need a 5 speed so bad as 4th is still too short for my liking

Car drove like an absolute dream though, things actually started to work like the horn and indicators, also the heaters are brilliant but the fan doesn't work :/
