Here's the one on the other side.

That bracket is the mount for the rear of the suspension arm so if you dig around just to the outside of the bracket under the car you should find the plug.

Been a while since I updated.

I have POR 15'ed the floor now. I actually found a spot that needed a weld, so cut it out and got it welded. Then I followed the POR guidelines:

      1. Scrub with Marine Clean and rinse well.

      2. Wire brush everything and then scour the surface with green 3m pads to 'key' the surface.

      3. Marine Clean, scrub and rinse again. Then dry everything with a heat gun.

      4. Soak in Metal Ready for a minimum of 30 minutes. Rinse and then dry really well with a heat gun.

      5. 2 coats of por 15.

It looks good and solid, ready for putting back together

That POR 15 stuff looks crazy, it's an anti rust paint right? Are you going to do the whole interior with it, or just the rust prone areas?

Interesting about that drain, I had no idea.. Might see if I can find mine on my beast and give it a clean/rust kill/wax through there.

Keep it up man, looks good!

POR 15 looks awesome! well done. it also looks like it has a very nice shine to it, outer coating perhaps?
But no really, I like to look distinguished when I step out of the car. People are like, "wonder what he does for living."
I just reply, "your daughter, sir." - some dude on stanceworks

I had fixed half the broken crap but that just meant it was still halfway inoperable

POR 15 is anti rust and rust treatment in one (when you use the whole system, not just the top coat). I have just done the floors up to the seams. No need to do anywhere else as the paint is good and no point in stripping good paint. The orangey stuff you see in the pixcture is just the residual glue for the carpet.

It's strange that they require you to use water to rinse it off isn't it... Haha weren't you scared about water getting trapped somewhere?

hah. Yes, but as you can see I removed all the portholes and then I spent a considerable amount of time with a micorfibre cloth and my heat gun drying everything. The seat runners are water traps and I focused a lot of effort in blowing water out with a compressor then using a heat gun to dry any micro drops that remained.

I bought a litre of each (POR15, Marine Clean and Metal Ready). used about 2/3 of teh can of POR15. As long as you always pour what you are going to use into a plastic container and don't contamintae the main tin, then it will last for ages. Also, put a layer of cling film between the tin and lid to stop it bonding together.

Finally all wrapped up and back together.

I ended up cutting out the manky parts of the foam underlay and cutting replacement parts from the new vinyl/foam underlay I bought. I also found that the factory misses a few areas where I added extra underlay. I also put aluminium tape over the holes that were taped up by the factory

                      Seam sealed the portholes in

That is really cute, and the cars not bad either.

Interior looks so so clean! Is that just regular carpet underlay or something? Wouldn't mind getting something like that to throw under my carpet, and over the dynamat.
What did you use for the seam sealing?

The underlay is from tru-fit here in Melbourne. It is their premium underlay and is 2 layers of foam separated by sound absorbing vinyl. link here: Tru-Fit Carpets - Automotive Car Carpet Mats & Soundproofing for over 30 Years and 700 models

The seam sealer I use is Teroson Seam Sealer - Terostat 9320.

The interior looks clean, but theres lots of rips and tears on the seats and little holes in the door trim.

                                DUBSTAR'S PROJECT - Weiß Hase - 1976 Golf LS

Just repaired another little issue. The speedo was working, but the odometer had stopped. Pulled the cluster apart and repaired the cracked gear with 2 tiny circlips and jb weld. Google the vortex for the full DIY.

When I put it back together I had a part leftover.

The inter web says its a 'dash support' but I can't see where it goes? Any help?
