Hey guys, I'm still alive.. Car is too!
So I've finished a laundry list of things on this car, and it still looks like I haven't done anything, well that's what some people have said, **** em aye! Haha. I'll just shut up and post a bunch of photos for now.
New wheels, just need to clean em up and rebuild them got em for a song imo.
Lows?
New toy
Nick of Volksparts Backyard
Grabbed a 5 speed box to chuck in her, along with flywheel/clutch and a bunch of other goodies.
Just before we ripped her all apart to redo the interior and install new sound deadening fix up a heap of things
New interior to be sorted out this month, got my design sorted but am struggling to find the exact colours/fabrics and finish I want. I'm currently sourcing Dulux paint through a mate whos' dad owns a powder coating company and has a contract with Dulux.
Cleaned up all the wiring and totally chopped a ****load of hacked wiring out, it's so clean now.. I'll post some photos of that too, once I get everything else sorted out.
Goal is still to have paint and interior done by mid September so I'm flat chat.
Buying a welder and going to try my hand at some modification and cut a little bit of rust out from where the heater core has been leaking into the passengers floor pan.
All in all, it's coming along nicely, and I'm really happy with her, can't wait to have interior and paint sorted. So I can spend more money on the engine haha.
Cheers!!Last edited by Goon; 06-08-2012, 03:35 PM.

It's been far too long, I repent!!
I'll start by uploading some progress pictures!
My new toy
Parts car which i got for $100 has all the bits of chrome trim I need and much better rubbers and loads of other little bits and pieces.. How cool is that intake thing on the bonnet. I've never seen one before in my travels..
Now onto the project at hand,
One dirty bay;
Almost clean
Stripped
This is the first time I've ever done anything like this so it has been a little daunting at times, but it's coming together pretty quickly now, when I make plans and get to work on my check lists..
Prepping panels & getting them straight, what an art. I probably laid down 4-5 layers of bog before I got a panel even, but improved really quickly..
So much of this...
Last but not least fairly clean looking engine
I'm still yet to purchase paint top coat, using acrylic lacquer though possibly with a clear.. and I want to paint the block at some stage too.
That's it for now, going to keep this updated much more often with more details in the coming weeks, body is almost ready for bog/sealer/primer so much grinding and sanding has already been done.

Great to see another local MK1 getting fixed. Makes me miss mine even more.
Saw a sweet looking one in Fyshwick on Friday - low and with some nice wheels - yours?
Cheers

That looks like it. I only saw it from behind but it was low, had roof racks and wide wheels.

Thanks mate, getting there.. Can't wait to get the body all primed up.. Job seems to get bigger and bigger then more work I do!
Thanks Paul. Doubtfully mine, as mine's in a million pieces currently.. But is this the one you're talking about?
good job on the build dudehopefully mine will be working soon :L
But no really, I like to look distinguished when I step out of the car. People are like, "wonder what he does for living."
I just reply, "your daughter, sir." - some dude on stanceworks
I had fixed half the broken crap but that just meant it was still halfway inoperable

Started primer on the body over the weekend, managed to get passengers side, rear hatch and most of drivers side done before my compressor shat itself! Oh the joys.
Cheers
