So, been driving around more in it,

Ran it nearly dead empty (the gauge didnt even get into the red LOL) so i filled Jerry can and went to Servo.
Put 9L in and put that into golf. With a mixture of Hard and normal driving, no HWY driving just all town, and tuning the weber, i have just broken 101kays on the trip meter and still have fuel in the tank

On a downside, i got a nasty exhaust leak. think the headers have cracked.

Get that 1.8 in. Get your carbie setup to suit then give me the jet size so I can do the same on my car. Nothing beats having someone else to do all your testing.

its in and running, went to go on the test drive and BAM, blew out a brake hose before i got to end of street!!
In the short drive up road, it pulls much better, and i didnt even go 2500rpm.... quick stab in 2nd and it takes off.
Cant wait too bleed brakes tomorrow and flog it

And the fuel pump setup, i did have a Carter 4070.... but go rid of it in favour for this, think the Packet said its a Fuel Flow brand... Bursons stock them. Very queit when primed and running, i have rattles that are louder. very happy with it,

Btw, got a 2" exhaust on now, so angry sounding ... need to align it better, middle section droops down

Once you go 1.8 you never look back. So much more torque, makes the car feel like it's lost 200 kg.

                            Got some lifters in today,

Still ticks bad, i did soak em in oil, guess it takes a while to "pump" them up?
getting a bit over it, it runs rather hot, 3/4 on gauge, and feels hot in the bay.
Think i may run some oil flush in it, the drop the oil, and the sump. pull oil pump out and clean it all ect. Got a oil leak from the camshaft Sill.

                            All fun and games

Out of curiousity, what brand oil filter are you running?
I found I had 'tickity' tappets (on start-up) after going from OEM to a Ryco filter.

MANN ones or something like that,

Bough a few off Matt at Camden GTi.

I got the lifters back out this arvo, also dropped the sump (the 2 bolts near GB are a kent!!!)
                                got the Pump out.

Soaking lifters in Diesel atm, pump cleaned. was full of gunk .
Also read that Diesel in the oil is just like the "Engine Flush" stuff, So i poured nearly a 1Lt container of it in, ran it on idle for 7 mins, then dropped oil. Damn it made the head much cleaner !!! dunno how safe it is, but i didnt put any load on it.
