          • Epic stretch...

Looks like the tire in that picture says 165/50 not 165/55 ?

Keen to see them on the car.

              • ET7 on an 8" rim will need that kinda stretch to miss standard shape guards right?
And look, the tire is even the same shape already! How cute!

                  • Cut my hand with a Stanly knife today. About 2cm across and 1.5cm deep on the palm of my left hand, required 3 stitches....yeah i know "ZOMG 3 stitches!!!" but its enough to put the mk1 on pause for a few days. Pics later.
Did manage to change the door handle rubbers and fix the speedo cable leak though.

                      • Almost there. Bled the brakes and changed the engine oil today. Brakes still arnt 100% but i think it needs new disks and pads up front to firm things up properly.
BTW STU YOU SUCK AT BLEEDING BRAKES LOL......it was super low and in the dark though.

The timing needs to be done for sure, starts to splutter when you punch it at about 4k and still keeps running for a bit when switched off. It'll make it to SEDF but i would like to sort it out.

I'm having a bit of a problem, there is smoke coming from the timing hole on the gear box and general clutch area. It doesn't smell like clutch, doesn't smell like anything really, it just white smoke. Clutch seems to be fine, you can spin the wheels but it does slip a bit when you try to gun it from 1st to 2nd.
                        Any ideas anyone?

                          • could be the crank seal allowing a litle oil into the clutch or it is just starting to slip or........................your engaging the clutch like a girl and wearing it out big time

                              hahaha

Ill check for leaks but i drove it for about 20min today, longest since i put the engine in, and it didnt smoke. Keep in mind the engine was sitting around for a few years.
Lots of other problems but its drivable.
Gota get a timing gun. Does anyone know what the timing should be set at? Is there some retard or advance that has to be set?

Hopefully the vac advance will sort everything else out.
