Also with Dynamat on the doors, do you just insert it on the outside, or the inside of the door, OR BOTH?

Do you have a recomendation where the best place to quiten down a golf would be (where abouts in the car doors, boot, wheels arches etc) and the recomendation of what other to use apart from MLV (i think) and dynamat, sound deadener etc... meaning perhaps a bit cheaper?
In regards to the cops, I guess im not affraid because i know what the deal is. I was pulled over a few times in the mk2 but they didnt notice the ride hight. I have had cops drive behind and next to the mk1 without any problems. I guess either they dont notice because the wheels are small and the car is small or they just ignore it because its not 'fully sic'. I stoped driving like a spastic after my accident so i guess that helps too. If i do get pulled over its fair enough, the coilovers are adjustable, i have a spare set of normal tyres and i have a guy for roadworthies.

If you want to go hard core you can do both inside and outside but its recomened you do the inside skin first and behind the speaker. Keep in mind its not light stuff, there isnt much room to work with behind mk1 door cards either. For reducing road noise i rekon the best place is to start with the floors and arches. I bought a bulk pack for $250 from the US, half the price autobarn wanted. It comes with 9sheets, i only used 1 sheet on each door. A bulk pack should be enough to do just about all of the mk1. I will post up when i do it and i can use the noise meter at work to test the difference.
As for brands, i usaly stick to what the SPL guys from the states use and thats dynamat and one other brand thats not sold here. $250 is a bargin anyway man, ebay is your friend.

      Cheers man,

I bought another RED mk2 because i realy didnt like the silver on the other one. Im swaping the 2L from the silver one in to the red one, the transplant is about half way, its kindo hard to finish when its always raining on my days off. Its a pain to swap all the bits i just put on the sliver one back over to another car but it will be worth it in the end.

Ill get some pics soon but the bay is not as good as i would like. There is a lot of overspray that has to be polished by hand and the 8v is so bloody messy when it comes to pipes and wires. I have tryed to keep the wires as neat as posible and have rewired a fair few things but i really need a good amount of time to clean it up properly. At the moment the ignition coil is in the stock position which is not where i want it, the fuel pump is where the stock air filter used to be which again is not where i want it (i have removed the stock air filter mounting thing) and there are 4-5 relays that i had to work out a neat enclosure for but it didnt go as good as i hoped. Ill get pics soon.

Dude in Sydney was doing Bulk Packs (i think the actual name was) for $400, and it was the cheapest I found when I was going to buy it and do it.

Ok so i bought a brand new VDO volt guage when i had a regualr headunit, but then i upgraded to a fold out dvd player so now if the screen is out I cant see the volt guage. I guess you rekon "so what, its not so important to see the volt guage when your driving around, what an idiot, wheres my sandwitch" but while driving and using the sterio ive droped the battery down to 11v, thank you 35amp alternator. I was also geting sick of pushing the 'fake' retro head unit back in every time it falls out on a bumpy road.

SO after work today I got started on this, its a bit more work than nessasary and a fair bit more expensive for a volt guage but i enjoy doing it.

Starting from left to right. The LED display unit and circuitry, the voltage reader add on board, the big black thing is obviously the single din cover plate, two fancy pants chrome LED push button switches ($20 each!!!!) they come in blue, green and red as well as push on-off and momentary. I got push on-off in red. The last thing is the voltage regulator and supressor that i made myself with help from a mate from work.

The unit acutaly requires a 5v power supply and reads 12v from a separate point. I needed to build the reg with the supressor circuit as the circuitry on the voltage display and reader board are very sensitive and doesnt like any spikes.
Heres the voltage reg all soldered up and fitted to the enclosure that will sit in the dash somewhere.

All hooked up and working. There are a few conection on the board that need to be jumped as it lets you adjust up to 200v and 3 decimal points.

Heres a pic of the fancy pants switch that i will be using to turn the amps on and off manualy. Plenty of space for other switches if its ever needed.

                      Heres a demo

Not very exciting stuff i know.

                        Not exciting, but damn interesting!
I'm not a stereo enthusiast, but driving a car with a stereo with decent bass makes me want to be, and motivates me to get back into my taste of hip hop and listen to DOOM flat out all the time.

In the OP man. 165/55 r14 over a 6.5" They are hard to get and not cheap for 14" tyres. I think dom told me they only bring them in for a small dawoo or something that was sold in Aus.
