    • what are some options for a seconday bonnet catch? im sure it is a cams requirement and even so there is a little bit of play in the original one so i would like to add a second for peace of mind when doing any sort racing...although i dont want it to be very noticeable for daily purposes. thanks

Victorian authorities are taking a pretty dim view on bonnet pins these days. It's pretty hard to get away with them on a road car anymore.

Aero catches and other flush mount styles are OK though.

I didn't want to put holes in that bonnet so I ran with the internal chains either side. A single chain or steel cable would also suffice.

Yeah i got pulled up when i had my gemini with bonnet pins, had to remove them asap they said it can cause more damage to a person if you hit them :S... surely being hit by a car would hurt enough!!. But it suited the look of the car, low wide and fat 13's.

Would look odd on a golf, the flush ones look weird,.

                • Leather straps or rubber donkey d|cks FTW!

A 2E powered beige 4-door sold from my town about a year ago, i remember seeing it on this forum once or twice and now it has an old leather belt holding the bonnet down, looked sorta cool but a little bit ratty.

See now thats BS. At one stage my bonnet latch wasnt working very well and at times it self-released.

So, as any normal person did, i put on bonnet pins for the extra safety feature and now im not allowed them? Hahaha, so i kinda have two holes inthe bonnet, and im also in risk of a flying bonnet.
Gosh, thats brave of Vics Roads..

                    • yeah i think i'll make up something like pete's...effective yet practical for everyday use..not keen on drilling more holes.

also picked up a pretty sweet race harness from my cousin tonight, will give it a clean up and take some photos...in the market for a seat now to accomodate the harness as my recaro's cant...

also i have word that the seat frames are well under way now and at worst will be done next week...which means the car would potentially be rego'd next week...the exact date i wont be mentioning and i wish to suprises a few folks.

                              • If I were you mate, I would just bolt through them and be done with it.

I don't believe you will need adjustable seats for rego.
