the best thread ever.....some might dissagree with me but in my eyes this is it...there is no need for anyone to tell you this as you know it yourself and you are doing it for yourself, but great job man...
Very pretty. NOS parts are amazing to fit - it is the most satisfying part after hunting them, shipping them and the moment you fit them it is like planets aligning.
Are you sure you are qualified to roll my guards son?
Oh my gosh I didn't visit this thread for a few weeks and this has happened!? I gotta visit and check it out one day Alex, perhaps when I get myself in a new VAG. Keep at it, I can't wait to see it running!

What colour was it again?
not too sure, you might need new rims to fill the gap after he is done
Looking good mate, more pics, more pics... power into it
Long story re the color , had decided years ago on Harvest Moon Beige , a beetle cabriolet color , as I loved how it reacted differently in different lights , sometimes almost white and others beige. Long story short , not available in acrylic , blah blah , them after looking over there color chart found Cream y34 and after a week or two of looking I think it super close if not better.
Yer will be leaving it for a good few more weeks before buffing , weathers not helping much.
Yer drop round whenever Ray.

Great work getting that BIG step out of the way! It's a great feeling
Re colour sanding and buffing: 72hrs is long enough, otherwise you won't get the best results. The paint needs to be soft (not that acrylic ever goes hard really) so you can cut into it easily and bring out the shine.
Did you put clear over a solid base (a fairly big no-no in most cases with single stage paint)? If so, make sure you sand through several of your clear coats (rather than just one or two), otherwise you're almost guaranteed that the paint will craze when it dries due to too much depth.
Look forward to seeing the results - especially of the roof, which is the worst part to blend from side to side
