There are multiple days over the year it is open, and it is a pretty good track for smaller not over powered cars.

Although, it was surprising how hard I had to work to get past on the straight there, haha.
Marulan is a good technical track in general, where you can see quick results from improvements in line and technique, but it's especially suited to cars like the Mk1.

Just because he has been fortunate enough to make quite a comfortable living from what he does isn't a reason to judge him negatively. I think it's a good reason to commend him.
I'd definitely be going to him for advice before many other driving instructors.

Just updating my list of things to do...
Refurb door cards (waiting on upholstery staples from the UK)
Custom intake pipe and breather diversion to catch can - Alex will sort it
Front tow hitch (76 models dont have one) - Alex will sort it
Further guard flaring/rolling so I can get some tuck - Alex will sort it
New and stiffer gearbox mount (install today)
New front and rear plastic bumpers (on route from UK)
Open single headlight grille - just need to pick it up from Brenton
Replace passenger front window regulator
Paint some components under the hood (cam cover) to tidy it up a little
Possibly remove and replace the tints
And attend to all of the dash rattles/rear end klunk
Finish polishing the winter wheels
285mm brake kit upgrade (funds permitting)
Front sway bar and mounting hardware (if I can find a second hand one otherwise new)
Need some 10mm hub-centric spacers for the rear (for the track)

Well spotted. It was actually to increase airflow. It dropped the operating temp by 5-8 degrees once removed. It's a 2/3 open grille, I've arranged a full open one which should help for everyday use but will remove it next time I track it I think.

nice mod with plenty of advantages, more air, cooler engine and less weight. I've got a full open 2 light grille i'm not using, you should have said and it could have been yours. I also drilled my front bumpers to line up with the lower valance holes and that has made a big difference77 Golf tarmac rally
