I don't know how much, but I'm sure a REAL Gti twin light grill cost a lot. My workaround was a cabrio grill and a red spray can for the classic gti red strip, they look 98% the same, not many people can see the other 2% difference.
GTI grills have wider opening in the grill, to allow more air in. Possibly for an oil cooler? That's what I've been led to believe anyways. as can be seen on the left hand side of the badge in the above pic. go have a look at a std grill, and you'll understand what I mean.
i spotted another lucky Silver Mk 1 GTi driver on Sunday in Brighton Road, Elsternwick/Elwood area (Melbourne)...and he was on his 'L' plates !!! and I'm pretty sure it was a genuine GTi.... anyone know it this car ??
My daughter was teaching her boyfriend to drive in Elwood that day. But the only silver on it are the GTI side stripes. Helios Blue can look different in various lighting situations, but I don't reckon silver would be possible.
Glad to read how much Lima is enjoying his GTI. Its looking and sounding great.
Makes me feel sorry to be using mine as a daily driver and loan vehicle to whichever family member needs a car. But it is nice to drive it.
Matt will be pleased to see the twin headlight grille still in place. I was a bit unsure about the single grilles I have as they don't have an opening for the oil cooler. So might need to keep an eye out.
Much happier now that the red trim is all sorted.
Thanks to Palex for coming to the rescue with his chrome trim of his 78 GLS. A bit of steel wool, some red paint and voila.
Wow, that looks awesome mate.
Did you get new tyres too?
