It was an option... Tyres are ordered, they are 185/55 the tyre shop guy suggested that they will give that slightly streched look that i want! Hopefully will have the rims back later tonight from sandblasting and will post up some pics of what they look like before and after!
Replaced all of the fuel filter system hoses and gave it a tidy up, accelerator springs, will take off the manifold and weber and get it all tidied up and modify it slightly so that it is less dodgy than what it is now haha zip ties etc holding it on from the previous owner, definately not the best setup out!

Also just a silly question would there be anything wrong with getting to the inside of the standard manifold and grinding back the inside to bore it out a little and polishing it up with a dremel? Havent had much experience with modding carby cars and dad was telling me how they use to do things like that to gain extra power back in the old days when they didnt have bolt on parts or money haha.
      Anyone tried this?

The rims have been sandblasted compliments of a friend of a friend, he ensured not to blast the lip of the rim as it may damage it too much, paint shopping wednesday and then over the queens birthday long weekend we will paint the rims!!!

Really looking forward to having a nice set of rims on it and having it look half as decent as some of the other mk1s ive seen in qld and on this site!

So far its been running great, getting a 2 inch exhaust banged on it on saturday with a nice n neat upturned exhaust on it! Will post up some more pics as i get some more work done on it!

picked up the etch primer, gloss black acrylic paint and some thinners along with 20 or so pieces of different grade sand paper yesterday, going to attempt to sand back the lip before i pay alot to get them machined!
A friend of mine is a sign writter and has come across some rust look paint, when painted onto metal is gives a rust look and can be clear coated! so i think ill buy another bonnet and give it a go and see what is looks like!
Sorry about the lack of posts and pictures, have been busy with work!!!
This weekend should give me a chance to get some more done!

              Sooooo the rims are painted!!!
Will let them dry really well and harden up for 2 weeks and then off to the machinist they go for the lips to be re-machined!
The paint came up really well and am very impressed with them!
Not bad for something done in the back of someones shed anyway haha!

angle grinded the caliper back a little to ensure no scrubbing!
As promised heres a few pics when we trialled the wheels on, they dont have the centre caps on them in the pics trialling them but i sat a centre cap ontop of the first pic to show an idea of what they will look like finished!

I painted up the gti flares with some bumper coat along with the front chrome bar pods, mirrors and some engine enamel for the petrol filler cap.

Its starting to come together nicely, looking forward to getting the rims finished and slamming it with some coilovers!

              Cheers loki

Yes the car hasnt had a bath for a little while as the new estate across the road just coats it with dirt anyway! this weekend it will get a nice wash and tidy up!
