    hmmmm i like this...

bigger discs ....(sand of the rust)

calipers to fit to discs( i need to give them a good wash)

    bigger drums for the back.

rear koni suspension(going to take them apart to sand the parts down then paint the shocks and springs.)

need to cut the springs front and back.
Front pedders shocks like new to fir mk1 suspension and on top of that konis springs.

    got also some belts.

cutting springs.......you should just leave them out

Do mk1's have a brake proportion valve? That would help stop lock ups and should be adjusted when lowering anyway.

I dunno how much of an upgrade these brakes are

The autos did have a proportioning valve so this car will have one fitted but the rears locking on a Mk1 is deadly!!! Std rear wheel cylinders are only 14m/m to prevent this whereas the Passats mainly used 17m/m ones.
Fit them in a mk1 and under panic situations the rear will try and pass the front! Tried that years ago.

By the way, Mk1 and 2 discs are the same diameter anyway, just ventilated

The GTI disc's & standard disc's are still not the same size!

As stated, ones vented the other is solid. Same diameter but different thinkness'

I don't know how GTI caliper's will go with standard solid mk1 disc's, but you'll have to let us all know how it goes!

I'm thinking you'll need some very, very fat brake pad's.

As has been already posted, I'd be keeping an eye in the brake lock up problem, cause it be very dangerous, as I've found out a couple of times before without the proper adjustment's.

Because there variable rate spring's & if you cut them, you cut off part of the variable rate part of the spring to lower your car & your left with the stiffer part of the spring! your also left with bugger all suspension travel too!

If you cut off 1 coil off a lowered spring, your left with maybe less than 2.5" of travel. That's bugger all for road use! Even with adjustable shock's, it won't stiffen up enough to stop it from bottoming out!

This makes your car more bouncy than riding on the bump stop's as I've found out a couple of times before.

I still wouldn't even have variable rate spring's reset! It just bandaid's the problem!

I'd still reset them or cut them if all your chasing is a ride height/look & nothing else, as I've done before, but not if your after performance!

Cut/reset spring's are not really all that safe when ploughing through a corner & twice the speed limit & find yourself bouncing through the corner in a somewhat sort of ghosty!

If you are running solid discs with early GTI calipers you will need in Bendix part numbers, DB400 which are 19.5 m/m in thickness where as with ventilated, its DB399, 15m/m thickness. The 83 GLS ran non ventilated discs as did the Mk2 GLs. I have fitted ventilated discs to a Mk2 GL and then the DB 399s without any dramas. See how I go with the Caddy and let you know....

Always good to see someone getting down and dirty!

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.
