  • My new mk1:)

    Hi all..

I found mk1 (well me old man found it) at some old ladies house in the garage...

She said she hadn't driven it for like 5 years and it was sitting in the garage..

I brought it the next day...

I and some mates gave it a major polish..and it was shining..

    Its a 77

    auto.

    1.6L.

    electric ignition

    works like a beauty..

just under 200,000km..the clock stopped.. on like 116.000km

but she said its done around 200,000km...

mint engine..still pulls like a normal rabbit

    some rust...

very very very clean and original

    ill get more photos later...

    PICS ON 2ND PAGE!!!!!

Good on you 16v, I am sure its a good golf mate. Time to get stuck into it and show us what you can do. I dont mind that colour, they look real good if the paint is in good condition.

Nice one, I think Andrew means that you should bring it back to good condition and maybe change a few things on it. Just fix up the things the old lady left behind, and make it better

I'm with everyone else on this.

Really need to see some better pic's. I don't know what's going on, my crappy phone pic's still turn out better.

But from the sound's of it, it doesn't seem as mint as first thought if it's already needing replacement panel's & new paint!

If it's soooo clean & original, it shouldn't need repainting!

I'd rather find a good dent man to pull out the offending dent's!

I'd go with the K.I.S.S. build theory on this & keep it as original as possible & look's like a good base to play with.

Nice find & cool color. Would like to build a mk1 in this color one day

Wish I could find a car like this to replacement my ever rusting 76er!

Also what's the go with all the nah nah's & electronic ignition.

It's not all that special, just ignition!

If you said something like it's got MSD 6AL, Hi-6 Crane ignition or MoTec, then that's a different story.

                  nice find man

keep it simple i reckon, paint it, make it nice, and drive it. follow dom's lead. look forward to seeing some good pics and even more so with some fresh paint.
