Not bad... There's a florida blue 78 GLS auto in town that's all original.. My old man does all the work on it.

I'd love to grab that if the old couple ever sell it.

      what do you guys think.

      cheers
Sorry dude but you've lost me with your logic.

You'll go & spend $$$$$'s on engine & cyl. head mod's for 2mm oversize valves, seat's/porting etc. & stuff you don't need like overkill ti retainer's with a stock cam & stock valve spring's, but you only want to spend less than $400 on wheel's & tyres?

What about the stock suspension & brakes?

Also you say the block has been bored to 2L but your going to use the standard piston's? Ummmm. right

      Just alittle helpful info.

A bored 1.8L block won't take it to 2L. It will only go as far 1870cc (1.9L Audi Spec) with a 83mm big bore piston (2mm/.078"thou oversized!) & 86.4mm stroke!
Or a more popular (maximum recommended) bore being .060"/1.52mm oversize. So a 82.5mm piston & 86.4mm stroke is 1847cc

To get to 2L, you need a stroke of 92.8mm which requires a bigger crank using a 82.5mm piston which gives you 1984cc!

Or it's easier & much much cheaper just using a 2L engine to start with!

You said the stock crank, rod's & piston's though!

              84mm!!!!!!

That's the largest overbore I've ever heard of & that goes for any passenger car engine!

              .118"thou!

I think that would be into the waterjacket's sorry.

              A 2.1 stroker kit is 83.5mm & 95.5mm stroke(2092cc), but that's using the 2L block to start with.

The largest 1.8L stroker kit I've heard of is 2035cc using the standard conrod's!
But you also have to modify the oil pump & intermediate shaft!

I'm not trying to be hard on you, just trying to clear up the info so that it makes sense

                i ment stock 2L pistons,crank,konrods..

i just checked and its bored out to 82mm

                sorry for the wrong info..

                so

1.8L bored to 82mm to fit audi 2L pistons

                  sorry for the wrong info..

                  so

1.8L bored to 82mm to fit audi 2L pistons

                  audi 2L crank

                  1.8L konrods
                  A 2L standard sized piston is 82.5mm!

                  so with having a 82mm bore, it's a .040"thou overbore. Piston's? oversized something. not 2L.

What is the engine code, year, model of the Audi component's?

If it's what you say it is with a forged 2.0L 92.8mm stroke Audi crank & 82mm bore...

                  it becomes 1960cc!

                    BORED OUT TO 82.5MM

                    CRANK-92.8MM

                    konrods of the 1.8L gti.

I would rather have a guard and bonnet with a dint in the correct colour than the mismatched colour panels. Keeps it tidier.

                      Nice colour though.

Dont argue with Golfworx about the engine as he is correct.
Make sure of the stats and then post.

Doesnt really matter, its getting a warm motor, so lets move on.

And why did you sell the 2 door to get a 4 door??

The problem with this is you have old paint you're trying to match new paint to. It will never look right. Honestly, you'll be able to get it close.. But in the right light, you'll see the difference.

I this one is "to good to touch" I assume that this next 2 door that your are going to find, will be 'modded'...?

didn't you just sell a perfectly good 'modded' 2 door??

I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but your logic doesn't make any sense.

What are your plans for this car? are you keeping it standard, modding it? improving it etc? I always find it's best to have a plan, save wasting money on things you don't want/need.

Do you have some inspiration as to what it is going to look like or drive like?
