    • I fixed this on Liam's GTI last weekend, just take the switches in the doors that have a bazillion years of crud/rust/etc and clean the contacts with some sand paper and spray it all with contact cleaner. For the effort it is very rewarding.

my car has been sitting since 2004 from what i can tell, so i m guessing with me using it daily for 3 weeks loosened it up
Its great though, never had a working interior light in a golf!

        • Tried to fix my heated rear window demister on the red GLD but did not solve the problem.... Work in progress I guess....

Ended up getting the cigarette lighter to work Not that I use it

Played around with the oil pressure gauge and volt meter in the centre console and got the 2 lights inside the gauges to work again

          Overall a great day!

Ps everything else still works as well....

            • It took me a day, but I finally replaced the electric aerial on the Cabrio. I thought I'd be clever and nip off the old antenna wire, attach the new one with duct tape and pull it through from the dash. Didn't work. It follows some mysterious path after it goes through the firewall. The old wire snapped halfway. After much cursing and swearing, I managed to elongate the hole (from the dash side) and get the new one through. Everything works like a charm now. Back to original. Very happy.

                    • Had a massive fail with the GLD yesterday - Injector pump.

Going back today with a fresh mind to sort it out.

                      • just spent an hour fixing my door locks.

I now have one key to unlock both doors and start it.
Need to see how the hatch ones works... if its the same setup as the doors.

                        • Did you file down the protruding lugs on the barrel or did you take the lugs out and rearrange them so they didn't protrude? If it was the former then you'll find the old key will still work and a whole lot of other keys will now open your doors.
