Frontal re-build

Gave the Cabby a bit of a front-end overhaul:

-new upgraded Grille and Eyebrow.

-new polybushes throughout front-end

-dropped the front springs by 1 x coil, just to get the front 'no longer higher than the back' !!

so far no different, but then I've only been 'round the block, so stay tuned as I've got the engine & rear end poly bushes to install also...

over the last month

Well, its been over the last month that I have been working on & off on Tang (my daughter's '77 GLS).

Took the windscreen out and replaced the windscreen rubber/seal with a new one - and guess what?
It doesn't leak anymore

Rear drums oil/grease seal had failed - new seals, shoes and wheel cylinders, went to bleed the brakes and got carried away without keeping an eye on the reservoir level - so had to do it again. Now have nice high and firm brake pedal

It sure feels good when some success is had.

Replaced the Crank, Dizzy shaft seals and the drivers side engine mount.

Replaced a dodgy bit of fuel hose on the run yesterday. Finally nailed that fuel smell and I think it even runs a little smoother now (and I hope the fuel economy improves).

The 'L' shaped outlet pipe on the fuel pump puts undue stress on the hose. Grrr

And I polished it for the 1st time in ages, ready for DOVW - my back still aches!

Vented-rotors and fuel-cap surround

1. Upgraded to some front-vented rotors, good buy @ $106 pair:

my old, usable solids are now up for grabs in Parts for Sale.

2. Fitted also a black-plastic, fuel cap surround, came all the the way from Bris-Vegas from SilverMk1...thanks Matt.

New clutch cable on Tang.

My goodness it was easy.

Distributor, cap, rotor & leads. Car starts first time now, which is a welcome experience.



Although this morning will be interesting with slightly cool weather.

Front wheel bearings done.

2 trips to Sydney back to back and fully loaded finally killed the old set.

Installed a better condition MK2 centre console and a 12 volt outlet.

Fitted a single headlight badgless grill thanks to Matt at Camden GTi. Cheers!
Also filled the indicator holes in the bumper last week and mounted them below, the cars getting there just needs to be dumped next. Coilovers!
