    • Trailing arm mounted rear swaybar's FTW & there a cleaner install.

They're also alot quieter too when going over bump's & such as they're main mounting's move up & down with the trailing arm.

I found this out when I fitted my front bar. It's main mounting's are onto the body at the control rear mount's & when going over bump's it would creak it's head off from the up & down movement in the bushes.

Hated it. Plus it was way too stiff for street use as well.

Good stuff though. At least your working on your mk1.

I can't even be stuffed checking the oil level!

When are you going to lower it Dom?

      • haha, lower it? what?! lol
probably stay that height so i dont get defected again lmao,
but i dunno, see how things pan out with the arches. it will probably look weird once i fiddle with em, in terms of arch to wheel clearance.
it will call perhaps call for new coils too though. the rears are down as far as they can go even though the fronts have a little way to go. could just get new springs i guess though. see what happens in that department too.
im not too fussed about having the lowest ever mk1 lol, as long as it goes alright and turns corners nicely

            • Drove the car tonight with the new clutch cable in and the experience is orgsamic over the previous cable that was like depressing a rusted one!

So good, makes all the difference!

              • Fixed the interior lining of the roof last night - gaffa tape, sweet, done. Also an oil change. Desperately waiting for tune up over weekend - timing is all out, over-revving and stalling at every stop.

                            • '89 Cab . . . . . . . 2009 facelift

After nearly 3 years spending to make sure it's a reliable and legal daily I've finally managed to spend some cash personaliing me Cab So, over the last three days I've done this . . . . . . . . . finished today

                              Before :

After fitting lightly smoked crystal X-hair outers and smoked X-hair inners :

                              Before :

                              After :

Have fitted some smoked sides too.

Also fitted a new jukebox. Unfortunately 'Bodgit and Scarper' had fitted the old one so took me 2 hours to replace all the insulting tape with proper crimp connectors. Worth the effort tho', got more technology in me dash now than Apollo 13 and that went to the moon
                              Cheers for looking

                              • Oooh Yeah!

well at 1pm today i set to work on the LS...

pulled the entire front end off, both sides: driveshafts, wishbones, uprights, tierods.

then i got to work -

                                > replaced LHS outer CV and boot
                                > replaced both inner CV boots and regrease
                                > replace tie rods and boots
                                > pressed out old control arm bushings, replaced with red prothane ones
                                > cleaned up and painted control arms
                                > drilled out old balljoints, removed and replaced with new balljoints and M8 high tensile bolts
                                > replaced uprights with early cabrio ones and new wheel bearings
                                > refitted everything, wheel aligned, steering rack centred, and test drive complete by 7:30pm tonight!

the result - MAN - i cannot believe how damned sticky the car is! i have NEVER in my life driven a vehicle that responds so beutifully to driver input!

can i just say - this foux-pas about having control arms past horizontal - i can't fault it myself. mine are quite a ways past horizontal and the car handles absolutely wonderfully!.... its possible that because of the large aftermarket front swaybar the characteristics of my car are different from a car without the swaybar...

                                EDIT: ...and i just bought a new carbie on ebay on a whim :-}
