Spent some of this morning and most of this arvo cleaning off 28 years worth of accumulated grime from the 5 factory mags which arrived last week from Golf Loon. A bit more work and they will be ready to paint.
They are the 5.5 inch wide ones which I'll paint white and fit the new Bridgestone tarmac tyres I've had sitting around for a while. I love em.

had a bit of an issue with what I thought was pinging to start off with (hot day, too much timing and/or bad fuel?, even thought it was fresh 95)

anyways, after the noise progressively getting louder geuss what I discovered! - my extractors are coming apart! One of the bolts is missing from the flange. It's good, I was worried I'd killed another 1600 for a moment! But i havn't (yet)

I think it's come undone cause my exhaust was hitting on the body (I believe) because the engine mounts are shagged! oh well. dem's the kicks.

just add one to the dozon or so things on my "things to fix on the mk 1" list.

EDIT: I am aware that, technically, I didn't replace or "fix" anything, but I thought I'd share anyway.

                            Replaced : Control Arms x 2
                            Ball Joints x 2
New bushes x 4 (on control arms)
                            Front wheel bearings x 2
                            Strut mounts x 2
                            4 Pirelli tyres, with alignment.

Worst part?, Realizing I put up with its dodgy handling for so long.

And today......The radiator fan motor let me know it needs replacement

Fixed the horns on both cars.

                              Accesorised the red car.

                              Ready for DOVW tomorrow.
