Hmm, So if something happens after the change, would they be liable to fix it??

should be a easy fix.. either issue with loom and vas pc will pick on which injector or they have not seated injector correctly... i saw one that was missing like crazy but it cleared after a good road test...

Oh mate, you've cursed it or spoke too soon or maybe they don't do the same work after all.

Yep Ipswich or Highway would be my immediate Brisbane choices.

Approximately late 2008 VW "started" using double o-ring injectors "in some cars", as far as I can work out from the piddly amount of information VW release about this problem around the globe. You can have a 2008 model that will be fine, or you can have a 2009 model which is affected. If it is early 2008 like mine, that is build date, well you're in the firing line.

This could all be totally wrong, VW won't confirm or deny anything.

Nor will they pay for the cost of a towtruck for those in cars that fail before you can get them in for the recall.Glad that they have come clean now for those that haven't had this happen to them(injector fail), but the occurance and Lack of tow truck expense contribution, still leaves a sour taste in my mouth!

They have not come clean in the real sense because they are not contacting people, whose details they should have on record, I mean how long would it take to send out an email, the "Recall" was issued in Feb 13 officially.

To be honest if I was not a member of this forum, I would not be aware the car has this problem and that a fix has been issued by the company.

Yes, they have been designed to fix the issue.

@ Manol, any updates on the work??

@Jimmy T, I might see you there lol.

Double o-ring oil seal will delay the issue dramatically. The fix was going back to Bosch in the MK6.

Really, so all the campaign replacement is going to do is delay, not fix?

I figure so, as the single o-ring injectors fail as oil eventually gets past the single seal, two will just last longer in my opinion. Probably dramatically so to be honest, as I am sure it's been redesigned to seal better as well. I expect the new injectors to outlive usual engine life though, but we shall see.

Or it may fix the problem. Even if they'd just upgraded material of the Oring and used again the single Oring it could still be a permanent fix.

Injector Failures - Possible recall - Page 53

                              Technical background

On some vehicles with the 2.0l TDI engine, deposits can settle on the Piezo pump injector elements because of dirty engine oil. This can lead to running problems. Not all vehicles are affected by this campaign! On the affected vehicles the Piezo pump injector elements must be checked and if necessary replaced. Please make sure that on the affected vehicle the check and repair of all open campaigns/measures are performed during the workshop visit.

Parts to be fitted as part of this campaign.

                              4x Pump injectors

Seems a bit weird that VW would replace injectors fouled by dirty engine oil without fixing the engine oil problem at the same... or has something else changed too like oil specification??

                                Oil spec has not changed.

I suspect that they've confused "dirty oil" with oil contamination of the injector internals.
