What's the most amount fuel you've put in your Golf?

Nope, no luck.
I've had a good look around the fuel intake pipe and even had my mechanic pull the cover off (as per the original pictures earlier on in this thread) but still nothing.
I'm now fairly certain the golf (at least the mk v) doesn't have the venting facility.

I thought I saw a thread even a MkV petrol golf has a vent button. http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/t/4650.aspx If it's there, the button is down the filler tube. Mechanism is outside the filler tube.Originally posted by Mofo View PostNope, no luck.

Hey Bluey,Originally posted by bluey View PostMy polo gets an extra 10L after venting (>52L into rated 45L tank). Presumably the Golf will too. Ventectomy is no problem for a diesel.
Ventectomy -- New guy\'s first mod! It took about 45 seconds. No, it's true! Less than a minute in below freezing temps. The photos posted in a thread on this subject were fantastic, and a tremendous help. I can't find the thread right now, but whoever posted the pics, I say THANKS! Greg
Rather than throw the vent parts out, I put the vent base through a few coils of spring so it doesn't seal but I don't have to keep the spare parts anywhere special.
Yeah, you've got the same photos as above, I think they're only relevent to the MKIV or earlier.
It's very hard to feel around the inside of the filler tube because of the 3 "knuckles" across the top. I'm sure if there was a vent button it'd be closer to the edge or even just outside.
I'd love for it to be proven otherwise!_______________________________________

So if you have the restricted diesel filler that only takes a skinny nozzle, the vent is apparently permanently open. Presumably the basic tank is the same as models with vent button. The question is does your tank hold more than the previous model or can you get more in by filling slowly and permitting venting to happen???Originally posted by Mofo View PostHey Bluey,

I've seen a thread where people make a small adapter out of plastic or copper and store inside the fuel filler flap for when the big rig diesel nozzle won't fit in. It mentions the lack of vent button.
This post has a pic of the filler like yours?

yep, it's a very similar filler.
In regards to filling, the absolute most i've ever gotten in is 54.5lt. This was after letting the DTE run down to 0 and spending about 10mins at the pump. The fuel was virtually right to the brim having allowed for the froth to settle after several slow fills. It's a 55lt capacity tank, and without wanting to completely run it dry, I doubt i could have squeezed more than another 1/2 litre in even if i'd kept driving a few more km's._______________________________________
