Took the black holder off and mounted the plates directly into the holes the dealer so nicely put in the bumper, green letters on black place on VG roc, excelent look. Just got to get the holes from the old holder plugged and will be all goodScirocco R - DSG

Plates and plate holder
So my car arrives Monday
Odd circumstances, but it will be delivered to me unregistered and without plates.
When I register it (in Queensland) I'll get given the standard QLD plates but I think I'm going to order some Euro plates from PPQ.
Given it'll arrive with no plates on - will there be holes already in front and rear bumper?
I did look at the Lakin plate brackets and they look ace - but at over $200 a set it seems a bit excessive
Any other suggestions?

Agreed, the plates are not cheap (although you really only need the front one, and they're under $100 from memory), but then it is quality stuff! And so's your 'Roc.Originally posted by djchuckles View PostThanks - seems Lakin is the way to go but $200 is a lot of cash for a couple of holders!

I have a Lakin plate behind my rear plate, but needn't have bothered. The main reason for going one at the front is to remove the awful stock plastic bracket (which looks terrible unless you go with Euro plates, which are very expensive in some states). At the rear, you still need to drill holes in your rear bumper - whether it be for your numberplate, or the bracket. So unless you're planning on changing numberplate size more than once during ownership, I'd not bother with the rear bracket myself.Originally posted by djchuckles View PostSo how do you attach the back one?2008 MkV Volkswagen Golf R32 DSG

I got myself a set of these. Arrived today and must say am very happy with the results.
I removed the big bulky plastic holder at the front of my rocco, and with a slight mod on these holders, used the same plugs that held the stock number plate holder.
These ones with euro plates are perfect and bend very easily also to contour to the front bar.
Big thumbs up and for the price....its a no brainer for anyone with euro plates
