Thanks Adam! I'll check them out. The lines are poxy...

Edit: Looks like those require more holes... the dealer was "kind" enough to put 2 holes into the middle of my plates and not at the top or along the edge which would be easier to disguise.

Lakin supply white and blue dots... I am guessing to cover unsightly holes left by inconsiderate dealers...

Oh, and IIRC you can use the "VWWatercooled" promo code for Lakin to get 10% off. That used to be the case anyway.

I had holes in my plates too - I used white electrical tape stuck to the rear of the plate to help disguise it, so you do have to look hard to see it. Got to hate it when dealers take to your car with a drill. Mine drilled two (additional) holes in my bumper. FAIL.

The Discount code is actually VW-Watercooled but the site told me I had to spend at least $50 to get the discount, strange when the total was $77. Philip is going to sort it our for me later today though.
Pretty good service... and looks much nicer than the Supercheap / Repco ones...

You will be amazed at how it comes up.... RB is one of those colours that really comes into its own when done with one of the hi tech sealants...

Are you going to have the wheels done so they are easier to keep clean?

Thanks for all your feedback and photos guys. I ended up ordering the Black European plates with my own numbering. My car is a month away from being ready to pick up, so i had to make a decision between the black euro or white euro. Still unsure, but had my heart set on the black euro's as I loved the way they looked on my previous E90 bimmer.
Not long to go! I can't wait! The car I fell in love with 3 years ago in Europe is within reach!

If you dont like how it looks with the big plate bracket on the front... there are people who have taken them off... had the holes filled and painted and then the correct sized Lakin bracket... but that is being really fussy...lol

                      Hi all,

                      Similar question to Stos......

New Indium Grey arrives early May so it is getting VIC euro plates. The question is, would you go for the black or white background? Black I think.

Hmm since you're in Vic... I'd go black background.. as the front and back plates are the same size... but only if you also paint your wheels or get wheels that are darker...

Hi Andy, Yes Lakin plates is a definite option. Looks good on Adams GTI. Will be contacting the guys there. I thought you didn't have to get the wholes filled if you went the Lakin option as their bracket longer that the euro plate length. Will have another look.

The only issue is that the Lakin bracket for the Black Euro (front) is smaller than the plate mount already on the car. If you remove that you are left with a couple of larger holes that are not covered by the Lakin bracket.

There is info in the Mk6 thread mentioned by AdamD earlier in the thread... http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/foru...tml#post793088

Up in QLD I seem to have the option in Euro plates of 520mm x 112mm or 372mm x 100mm

Which would be best? Ideally like them to look like the pics on previous page
