Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

          these things aren't cheap.

have any of us physically opened up a VW to clean and inspect the build-up? link me a thread if yes.

I've seen photos of a 135i with 90,000km and build up was not pretty..

Funny you mention it. Here are some pics of the carbon buildup on a Golf R engine with 50,000km's on it. The car was 100% stock standard. As you would know, the Golf R engine is the exact same as what you have in your Scirocco R.

You can also use the Subaru upper engine cleaner (also Nulon have a cleaner and also Liqui Moly have one too) and spray that inside your inlet manifold (via the air temp sensor) and doing that every 6 months or so will help somewhat to the carbon buildup. See info and pics here: Subaru Upper Cylinder Engine Cleaner - Page 3
