have any of us physically opened up a VW to clean and inspect the build-up? link me a thread if yes.
I've seen photos of a 135i with 90,000km and build up was not pretty..
Funny you mention it. Here are some pics of the carbon buildup on a Golf R engine with 50,000km's on it. The car was 100% stock standard. As you would know, the Golf R engine is the exact same as what you have in your Scirocco R.
You can also use the Subaru upper engine cleaner (also Nulon have a cleaner and also Liqui Moly have one too) and spray that inside your inlet manifold (via the air temp sensor) and doing that every 6 months or so will help somewhat to the carbon buildup.
