Once they start selling officially imported VW Sciroccos what will the effect be on the resale of all these NZ imported versions?

VW Scirocco coming to Australia in early 2012

So, looks like they arrive in our market before the end of March 2012.
VWA have not said anything on price, the figures are suggessted by SMH.drive.com.au. If you ask around at several dealers you will get varying information... I have been told by one Dealer Principle that they retail for $80K drive away... that is a crock, however if you bothered to look at the Mk6 R pricing spreadsheet and tick the appropriate boxes for a 3 door R, with DSG, 19's, MDI, BT, ACC, Leather and RNS510 (fully loaded as I have been told by every dealer) then RR Drive away in NSW is $70K.

As for being here before the end of March... again this is all speculation until VWA officially announce dates etc.
I have been told there will be some vehicles in Australia before Christmas so that Test drives can be arranged for "serious" buyers but until it happens it isn't factual.

As for re-sale value.. do you think it is going to make much of a difference in 3 years time? I doubt it and for those that are purchasing them it obviously isn't an issue.
Had I been in a position with my current car to get out of it quickly... I would have my name on a pretty little CW Scirocco with 19's and Sunroof. Looks like I will now wait and see what VWA come up with but I am expecting similar pricing, no discounting and take what you can get if you want to get one in the first batch...

I think it will make a significant difference to the resale value. As will the warranty implications of not buying a VW Australia sourced car. VW Australia offers a 3 yr unlimited KM warranty on new vehicles not 2 yrs. They also allow you to extend the factory warranty if you want - not one of the half baked after market extended warranties that dealers try to offload.

As for price.... the Scuderia prices say FROM $68K drive away. So, what sort of options do you get for that price?
If the waiting lists for a Scirocco are so long in NZ and Germany, how are Scuderia going to source a car to a buyer's spec any faster than VWA?

Your opinion only and would that be of any real concern other than for those that are buying them.... I doubt your opinion or mine will have any sway with anyone who is interested in buying them..

And Scuderia had no real obligation to negotiate this warranty with VWA... again I can't understand why you are so keen to hang crap on Scuderia Imports.

That is not what Scuderia are offering.

Ring them and ask... if you are interested? Which I doubt very much....all you seem interested in doing is trying to promote a slanging match...

Again, if you bothered to get ANY facts you would know it was mentioned that NZ and UK (not Germany) were the main Countries that had long waits... they are also the 2 Countries where the imports have come from.. the first one a year ago was a Black Scirocco R which came from England and was the basis for all the work to be able to get these complied in Australia..

Who said they are able to get them to a buyers spec? Again waffling into the breeze.. You make the call, find out what is available.. ask the price and if it is to your liking...put down a deposit.

How are Scuderia getting them from NZ? They have VW dealers there who are willing to sell to them, it is a case of first in with the money for vehicles coming in gets said vehicle... not really rocket science.

I suggest if you want to know any more info.. call Scuderia Imports, I am sure Alessio or Sam will tell you all you need to know.

From what I know 67,900 car is with 19inch and sunroof.. Don't quote me on that...
As for sourcing cars, they are getting cars from both NZ and Japan.. These are either cars in stock or coming inti stock. At tge moment if you order a scirocco R in the UK or NZ Japan etc they are quoting a 12month plus wait. Volkswagen Australia might get 20 cars next April but then people will have to wait.
As for the warranty it's a VWA backed warranty with another year good will.. Plus you cam extend the warranty too.
These aren't dodgy cars, your just making assumptions without any knowledge...
They have another 5 cars available in October and then you have to wait.
There is no need to put crap on Scuderia imports..

Are AndyCh and AP employees of Scuderia?

I am not putting crap on Scuderia... these are valid questions any buyer will ask when the going price is from $67K Onroad.

Neither of you (nor anyone in the buying public) know how many cars VWA may have available for sale come Q1 2012. But AndyCh's previous posts seem to indicate he was prepared to place a "holding deposit" with VWA for the rights to one.

I could be wrong, but i hazard a guess that the Scuderia supplied cars will dry up once VWA starts importing them.

What has being able to afford one got to do with having an opinion?

Elitist attitudes about the people's car always make me laugh as does asking $70k for a hatch back but if the market is willing to pay it then good luck to Scuderia.

I can't afford one but can I ask how Scuderia has got VWA warranty for these cars?

Direct enquiries to Scuderia Imports please. As Anthony already stated, he doesn't work there.

I got the chance to see Tendy's Scirocco at a previous meet and I gotta say it's got the curves to match Adriana Lima. They look absolutely fantastic in the flesh. There is a market for these early Mk3 Sciroccos and for those that are skeptical about some facts, just call up Scuderia. There's no need to incite some of these arguments.

The Ferrari FF is actually a hatchback and it is $600,000+

I guess early adopters always pay more. In one way or another.
I remembered waiting in the queue for the first iPhone release in Australia. In the middle of the cold for 8 hours. Yikes.

I am NOT an employee of Scuderia... I would have been a customer if I had been able to get out of my current vehicle but that wasn't possible right now...

How would you know? I was a VALID buyer and I certainly didn't ask those questions...some may.. not everyone is hung up on re-sale value etc... Emotion and the ability to purchase are more likely motivators when looking at this sort of vehicle.... It is not the same as buying a Polo or Golf.

You have no idea what you are talking about...I never mentioned placing a deposit with VWA or having any "rights" on one if I did.
What I did say was that I was considering placing an order with a VW Dealer which would secure me a place in the line for the option of purchasing of purchasing one of "their" (the Dealer's) Allocated Scirocco R's when they come in... depending on the spec and pricing.

                          Nothing to do with VWA

As for the number VWA will be bringing in....based on the fact that NZ got 20 cars in their initial batch and waiting times in other countries is now out to 12 months it is fair to guess it won't be hundreds of cars....so in answer to the next part of your reply.... I doubt that the Scuderia supplied cars will dry up... there will be a greater demand than supply....

I love the ride height you have on it 10d, and I prefer to think of it as a "Sports Coupe" rather than a Hatchback...

I don't get why people are getting so worked up about alternative views being aired here. It is not like they are criticising the car per se. These are beautiful cars.

I personally like the Scirocco and might one when the VWA stock comes in. If the Scuderia cars are coming from the same factory then there should not be a difference in quality.

What pologti is trying to point out though (which is valid) is that imports usually suffer greater depreciation than officially imported cars (regardless of whether the warranty is honoured by the official importer - in this case VWA). In some cases also, even insurance maybe higher - although, this probably won't be the case with the Scirocco.

What I do see are people getting unncessarily defensive over comments being made that don't necessarily mesh with theirs. But this being an open forum, "shouting down" those with different views only reflects badly on those doing the "shouting". We all don't march to the beat of the same drum.

If there are things that are not correct, the points can be made in a nice manner w/o resorting to labelling others as haters - which I don't think those with alternate views are - esp not of the Scirocco at least.

A mate of mines dad had a deposit on an Aus delivered Scirocco R with a NSW dealer.
QUOTED price to him was $49000 + onroads + options.

Remember guys, the Scirocco R is supposed to replace the 3 door Golf R so there's no way in standard form it will cost more than a 5 door golf R.

My mates dad was saying there is an options list a mile long for the Scirocco so they definately aren't importing fully optioned models only.
                                Cheers,

                                John
