  • Double demerits and too poor for tyres so no burnouts for me.

No plans at the moment Carpoid, just enjoying swanning around in it and fixing the rattles and little issues.

When I have some $$ I`m gonna get the body done and repainted.

That then opens a whole what colour can of worms and do I get the sunroof removed before I begin ?

          • Hello everyone I'm new to this forum and was just wondering if I can pick your brains a bit? I'm migrating to WA next year just waiting on the paper work. The question is I have a 1991 Scirocco GT2 that I have completely overhauled and I've transplanted a 2 litre G60 engine into but I put a 4 branch manifold (Extractors if I remember they were called over there) on it. Theres no catalytic convertor on it. Does anyone know what the laws are over there concerning emissions? Will I need to retro fit a cat onto it for it to pass customs? Theres more though I have a Corrado Storm which also needs to come over with me which my wife is going to do a personal import on. Will I need to install a german speedo for kmh to pass customs. Thanks in advance for any info you can give me. My wife told me to sell them before we go! It was the funniest thing I had heard in ages.

            • Welcome mate.
Bring both cars for heavens sake.
Provided you have owned both for more than a year in your name, you can bring em as personal imports. Lots of info on here about it, do a search.
I have seen lots of imports and provided the speedo is also in ks, you should be fine.
The Cat thing is down to the guy doing the compliance, but personal imports are not as severely tested as domestically delivered vehicles. You will probably have to put child restraint points in the boot floors, thats about it.
There are a handful of Corrados and not many more Roccos in Oz, so you will be joining an elite club
              See you down under.

I think you and the Mrs could do one each, or bring one the following year.

                  • Did the 91 Scirocco still have lap belts in the rear? If so you will probably need to put lap/sash belts in - the bolt holes are there behind the trim so thats an easy one.

A guy brought a MkII Scirocco into Perth about 14 years ago and he was required to change the speedo to km/h. Strangely I didnt need to when I brought mine into Adelaide.

Bring both cars, you will only regret if you dont.

Love the comment about your wife's intent to sell!! If she intends to sell the Corrado when you get here I will buy it - if I can get in front of the other guys!! You will make a tidy profit and I worked out it was the same cost to ship the car with my personal effects in as it was to ship my personal effects!

How about a picture of the cars?

                    • Spent a day today showing the Rocco some Lovin, in preparation for the Nats.

It needs a paintjob, but I finally got sick of the grey faded bumpers, so satin blacked them up a treat.

The rear view mirror has been broken for ages, so I ordered one from UK on ebay, it was the wrong one, being from a cabrio, but I managed to use the stem of the import one and the mirror from a beeza to make a slick one. So good being able to see behind me.

Also scored a CAI from Autobarn, the same as Hawks one. $299 RRP $180 Loon discount Big phat mission plumbing that in and too dark for pics, but its done and it looks great sucks in cold air, not hot and is legal

Also realized what was missing from the back was a Scirocco sticker. Have been eyeing them on US ebay for $100US, but that seems a lot for a sticker. Scored this one from Canada for $15. Hoorah for the Canadians. Hardest job in the world sticking it on straight and in the right place.

Dodgy pic in the dark, but you get the idea.

                      • Looking pretty awesome there. At least people won't ask you what the car is now. They'll just ask "What is a Volkswagen Scirocco?"
                        Cheers,

                        • I would have thought you were over playing with cars for the week

Can't wait to see this again in the nats. You got to take me for a spin in it...

                          • Yeah, I never get to play with my cars, so with the Mrs and the Kids at the inlaws, it was time for me to spend some time with my other lover

Couple of pics of the cold air intake.
Had a tidy of the engine bay, but its a hardsetup to get supertidy, reminds me of a kjet engine
Also good I dont have a/c or powersteer as there is little enough room at the front as it is.

The CAI seems to make a difference in the cold Camden mornings.
Glad its sucking cold air, not hot.

Also a pic of the front with the reblackened bumper.
Might have to get the car detailed and maybe wind the coils down a bit more.......
