      19 inch Rim for 2008 T-Reg

Hey guys and gals (yes! you are out there)

I have just ordered my new 2008 V6 TDI due in Aug and want to change the standard wheels from 17 to 19 in rims. Not prepared to pay the rip off price from VW.

In trying to avoid having to have the ECM changed (the dealer is VERY reluctant to do it unless it's VW Wheels) therefore trying to keep the same rolling diameter.

Anyone got any ideas on a nice rim and good allround tyres?

Tell you what I have learnt so much reading the forums especially from some of the more Senior (as in long term) members.

      Thanks all

Peter, awesome post! If anyone is curious as to what some of the OEM wheels from VW were, here's a comprehensive pic database:

vintagewatercooleds.com is your first and best source for all of the information you’re looking for. From general topics to more of what you would expect to find here, vintagewatercooleds.com has it all. We hope you find what you are searching for!

Tezza, the sky's the limit in response to what aftermarket wheels you can go for. Some of the SUV range from BBS, OZ Racing and Work (select Gallery from the webpage) look very nice IMO. They are high quality and world renowned but that also means they're expensive! Searching for wheels ain't easy at all, but hope I've helped you in starting somewhere!

Today I tried to fit a stock ek civic wheel on my mk3, wouldnt get on though. It wouldnt sit on the smaller hub circley thing. PCD and everything else seems to be ok, but when push comes to shove (quite literally), we couldnt get it on.

Standard Subaru steel wheels WILL NOT fit on a VR6 with 288mm front brakes, most of you mostly likely know that already...

                    new wheels?

                    Hi Guy's

I've got a chance to get some new alloys but just need to confirm that they will fit...

                    its for a MK1 Golf (93 Convertible)

Wheels are 16" off a 1988 Honda CRX

                    its definitely 4 x 100 and a ET45 offset (205/45 rubber)

                    Will this be ok?

I've looked through the wheels sizes fitment guide and it seems ok but i just wanted to make sure...

2 issues, the centre bore will be to small, and will need machining, and I dout the caliper will clear the spokes of wheels. VW's tend to have quite chunky calipers for the size, this is a problem I am currently facing with a great set of ROH's that fail to clear the fronts by 2-3mm

that's awful - i've been trying to get some cheap but cool alloys for bloomin ages!!!

                        4 x 100 Grrrrrrrrrr!!!

i could probaley get the centre bore done but does that mean the entire back of the wheel has to be machined? or can i grind a smidge of the calipers?

I remember trying some 17's on there and the calipers just touched the outside but bearly if you know what i mean

Probably just the centre bore if you're lucky, 5x100's are much worse as the only jap spec models that use the pattern will hardly ever clear the brakes, have too much offset, have different centrebores and use smaller bolts

I've got 2/4 sorted so far on my set... ahhh the joy...

                            hmmn the search continues...

I'll try them on anyway and see how it goes

i'm gonna try some 17's as well (also from a civic) which might work

                            Fingers crossed!

Can we PLEEEEEASE have a meet-up at someone's house with a grinder and do a mass-grind on all our calipers? The wheel world will be a better place...

thats a brilliant idea! if its safe of course - it's usually only a smidge that needs to come off anyway right?
