Which wheels will fit

hey it would be good to have a list of the different types of car's wheels fit onto a mk1 4x100 stud pattern , if uve put them on with out problems or with some that u fixed list em up here. This will help in the selection of wheels offering many more wheels to choose from.

Good an ya, Brenton. About time we did this. Contributors, I'll create a forum headed "Wheels and Tyres" for threads such as this. Please post your suggestions in that thread. Lets face it...We regularly spend heaps of money on those things that go round-and-round on the bitumen so they deserve a spot. But don't forget if you're selling them put them in the "For Sale" forum.

Porsche wheels with a high offset will go on, as they are 5x130 theres enough room to get a 100mm bolt pattern on an adapter. If the rims are et52 - with 20mm thick adapter you've got et32, design 90's look awesome on most VWs IMO

Honda Wheels are No1 Same offset and stud pattern and heaps of 15" rims kicking around from all the ricers who have upgraded to 17s! You want them from an integra, civic, or prelude, 4 stud pattern.

Gemini Wheels, of which there should be any number in scap yards and tyre places. Sometimes they need very long studs, be warned.

Holden Astra, say 1998 model. Same offset and pattern. Thats cos they are really an opel, german, from the same era etc. Same reason Gemini wheels fit. Presumeably corsa ones would fit too. Later Astras change to 5 stud.

Camira should fit and I heard a rumor that camira brake calipers bolt on too!

Seat. there is a SEAT wrecker in Smithfield and he has loads of mags that would fit a Golf. $350 with tyres, but he`d probably do you a deal.

Golf Mk3 non GTI Mags. These are still 4 bolt pattern, are usually softline and are genuine VAG. I bought one set of Mk3 5 spokes for $200 from the Trading Post with good tyres.

Some Audi pre 1986 are the same, later pattern are different.

Mitsubishi are the same stud pattern, dunno about the offset.

New Mini. I have seen some 15 inch VW steelies on a new Mini Cooper S. SO the Mini wheels probably go on a VW.

Only prob with Honda and Mini wheels is that the centre bore is too small. Feel free to copy and paste this information FYI. Use what you need....

Please note this list is a GUIDE to correct wheel fitment. There may be errors or ommisions.

You should always check before fitting tyres to wheels that the wheel is a good physical fit on the vehicle hub. Check for firm fitment on the centre hub brake caliper clearance to spokes, clearance to suspension and steering components.

OFFSET is often referred to as ET which stands for Einpress Tieffe in German.

OFFSET = BACKSPACE - ½(RIM WIDTH)

Yeah, loon, never confuse interstate federal politicians with euro specced small bumpered GTI's and their owners... (screw this cold weather, though. I am freezing.)

Look up Simmons wheels on ebay atm. There is a set of 15x6 multipiece rims that would look nice on a 1. Probably would need to bore out the centre to 57.1, though. I did that to my RS, and I need to do it to my Simmons V4 track wheels. 3 piece wheels rock!!!

Mrgolf... We will be forever in your debt. A very comprehensive list (however as a Pug enthusiast I notice that there is no mention of the various 505s...and 140PCD wheels are currrently a concern of mine). Now, if you have influence in Canberra, how about leaning on a few pollies and get the stupid car import laws changed. Start by getting the 15 year rule to roll over each year. Then get the "Special interest" car list expanded to include any model not offically imported into Oz. For example; Scirocco, Santana, Mk2 Golf, any diesel-engined model of an imported petrol-engined car...etc, etc.

My pleasure. I do not have sway with pollies. They all come from interstate, and have never let me off a speeding fine. Canberra is more than just home of Parliament, its also nice roads....and....uhhh....pretty views of snowy mountains...and....ummmm...clean, its quite clean.... That is all....
