  • V7 Maps for Australia

    Hi all,
Has anyone already bought the v7 maps?
If so could they post the cdrom.TOC and DBINFO.txt files?
    Curious to know the details.
    Thanks

Might be too much to expect some decent text to speech and a few more streets showing up in 3D mode wouldn't it

Possibly somehow related to the suddenly-working Traffic service on some brand new Mk7 Golfs

V6 was $99 originally and there are still some hopeful sellers on Ebay at that price.

The Telstra subsidiary Sensis is the parent company of Whereis. Commonly referred to Sensis maps are in fact Whereis maps.

In a better world v14 would be out at the end of Jan.

Telstra just sold most of sensis to a private equity company. But the onus is still on vwa to integrate updated geospatial data it's update disks

Uses the Traffic Message Channel data broadcast by Intelimatics over fm in capital cities. It's encrypted so needs a licensed key to decrypt. Ie vwa have to pay for it.

They should just chuck in the occasional text ad when there aren't many incidents and make it free for everyone.... like normal radio

If you look in the Mk7 Golf thread you'll see one lucky new owner has the Traffic service working. Just need to establish if it was a fluke or a sign of things to come.
