  • Just updated my 810 - glad that SD playback no longer pauses in reverse and loading SD USB is now very quick (around 3 seconds as polski reported)

Change back to 2 column menu layout which is much better

Will soak test further on my drive home from work but things are definitely moving in the right direction now!

    • Has anyone had a monsun.exe since the new firmware??

Might try turn the nav on in the background and see if I can push it a bit. Maybe it won't come up with the errors.

Haven't encountered one yet in a couple of hours of SD playback, although mine have been very sporadic and sometimes haven't had them for days on end.

Had the Nav on briefly this morning too and SD track skipping seems to be almost instantaneous in when in Nav UI - can anyone else confirm the improvement?

        • I can. I'm amazed in the improvement in SD playback with this latest update! It loads in seconds, switches almost instantly and hasn't crashed once on me yet!

Things are finally looking like they are going somewhere!

Great stuff, although I'm not part of Sandy's groupbuy I'm glad others are having as positive an experience now as I seem to be having. This is really turning into a unit I enjoy showing off to fellow VW owners - it really does carry the OEM polished look/feel (and now snappier operation) of VW units 3x the price!

One thing I have encountered - no matter how many times I've tried I cannot get the time/date to stay set correctly - it seems to keep jumping to China time (+7/8 hours) as if it is syncing via GPS/CANBUS but defaulting to the wrong timezone

I suspect I may be the only UK owner on here currently but has anyone any input on this? Can't see anything in settings / hidden menu concerning time zone / syncing with GPS (time shows as correct in iGo Nav software)

              Is yours a dns810 or dns610??

About the time issue, i fixed it by going to the windows ce itself, and changing the time zone.

I tried with no luck. Ended up just giving up. But it doesn't really bother me. Never turn my radio off anyways.

On another note. Still not liking the way my Bluetooth is running. Just not quite right. Can't seem to keep sync with my phone. And has a few times lost connection mid call. Which it didn't start doing till about 2 months ago. Not sure what the deal is there.

                  DNS810

Interesting - how do you quit the UI to access CE desktop??

I was just merely luck, i was trying to get the Garmin software to work, and it went off to the windows ce desktop.

                    • Ah I see thought you had a method!

I wonder if putting a copy of ce 6.0's explorer.exe on the nav sd, and point gps path at it would work?? I will try this later

No, it won't work, i will try to make a video showing you how to do it with the faulty garmin nav. It's pretty easy.

However I have encountered an issue while flashing, and have now been told that there is a new firmware flashing procedure - the MCU MUST BE THE FIRST THING TO BE UPDATED. This is very important. I will update the spreadsheet in relation to the instructions as well. This doesn't mean your unit will have an issue if you don't flash the MCU first but you could get unlucky. So flash the MCU first - even if you have the most current version already.

                          .
Hey Sandy, can you post exact procedure. I'm still on the safe firmware from Dec and have been hesitant to upgrade.

I see the instruction on the excel doc but it doesn't sound like it is updating the mcu first?

                          Cheers

                          • It's almost the same but now you put the card in with the unit powered up. Click yes on the pop up to upgrade the MCU first, then leave the card in when it reboots and it will do the BSP & MPU like normal. Then power off when instructed, remove the card, power on again and your done!

                            • Please, if anyone with a dns610 had luck upgrading to the latest firmware, post it here!!

The procedure in the spreadsheet worked fine for me. Follow it exactly and it should work.
