DNS series head unit (new generation dual core RNS-510 alternative)

Sandy, got my head unit back yesterday and installed it this morning. Things seem good so far, but I can't seem to figure out how to get the mirror link module working. I hooked everything up and used the Samsung adapter. I've tried all of the aux inputs and nothing. What am I doing wrong.

There is a specific connection on back of DNS for the mirror link. It's the only connection that fits. Then plug phone in with provided cables.

That is exactly where I have it. When I plug my phone in, nothing happens on the radio. My phone sees a HDMI connection. I have a note 3 and have the adapter needed. The module power light is on. At a loss here...

Ok seems like all is connected. I don't mean to make this sound stupid but did you go to settings scroll down and click on mirror link so your screen changes to HD Link? That is where you have to go to select the mirror link option

Settings. Then scroll down by dragging finger up. Should be called mirror link or something.

Yeah, when I scan for mirror link devices nothing comes up. It also asks me to disconnect my HDMI cable before it can scan as well sometimes. I didn't get to play with it much, but it's not just a simple plug n play, yet. I think that the radio unit itself is not ready to go, software. It seems there should be a mirror link input or something. I will play with it later, but I am not so sure about this...

These images hopefully clarify what I was referring to when I said the screen is blinding at night. If u travel past suburban areas and their light pollution, then the screen becomes very bright as it is much darker at night.





Both of these I believe show what I mean by the dimmest setting being too bright. Plus the camera being full brightness too.

Well, it looks like I will have to possibly buy the Allcast dongle to get my Samsung Note 3 to work with the MHL mirror link setup to work. Samsung is not recognizing the module that came from AS. Don't worry for those that don't have a Samsung phone. It's some type of proprietary BS from Samsung. At least I hope that is why my mirror link is not working. Sandy, do you have any input on this?

Do you use a custom rom on the phone? If not maybe you could find one that circumvents this? Saves buying another adapter...

No custom ROM. Stock and not rooted. When I scan with the allcast mirror link, on the included AS adapter for Samsung, it doesn't find anything. Running the new KitKat formal firmware that was just released. I may try my wife's S3 tonight to see if it works.

Alright... I went out and bought an official Samsung allcast link module, and still can't get this mirrorlink option to work. Not so sure this will work with a Samsung phone. I tried my other phone as well... Neither the Note 3 or S3 will work. Sandy, please talk with AS about this. If this does not work, I will be looking at returning the unit, as this was suppose to be a viable feature. I also tried the included Samsung adapter they provided on both phones with no luck. Allcast does not find a mirrorlink device when searching in the Allcast settings. Really at a loss here.

BTW, I tried the adapter on my TV and it works great. Ruled out phone and adaptor. Also, as soon as I plugged in the phone to TV it came right up. No need to scan with Allcast.
