        • Well mine has gone back to Rob at Auspack... It was repeatedly failing to find the GPS device. This is not a signal strength (ie aerial position) issue, as when it decides to work (about 1 day in 5) there are lots of satelites with lots of strong signal... So, after an involved discussion with Rob (who was very friendly and seemed to know the product thoroughly) he will get it checked out by techs and either returned or replaced. So, here's hoping....

          • Any MKV R32 owners out there who have the AVC9000?
Did you install the reversing camera? If so, where did you locate it?

I am about to get my 3rd camera, and I am wondering if the vibration/resonance from the install location (between and above the exhaust pipes) might be upsetting the camera.

I get a "reversed" image (what's on the left shows on the right, etc).

Yes, I have gone through the software settings at the head unit, and that makes no difference at all.

Rob (Auspack) is at a loss to explain.....and I would really like this sorted out.

So...any feedback from the .:32 owners?

            • Not got an R32, but a GT. Had the cam installed for 6 mths now, and no problems at all. I would be very surprised if vibrations were an issue, as these cams are very robust.
Mine is installed directly in the middle of the skirting. In the centre of the car.
I am not sure exactly what you are trying to say the problem is.
Are you saying the image is the wrong way round? i.e. a forward facing camera? The image should be reversed, as you are looking in the opposite direction to the rear of the car. i.e. It should be the same as looking in a mirror. If you have an image, that appears the wrong way round when looking at the screen, then I could only suggest you have the wires round the wrong way, or you have the wrong type of cam. But, that seems unlikely.

                • I have just picked up my 2006 passat v6 and am loving it, i was thinking of a sat nav unit and did the usual searching and have come across this forum. i hav also uncovered a sat nav unit from a mob in melbourne who call themselves Dig Options, has any one used/seen/installed one of these units? from the explanation on ebay it seems to be all tested etc to work but this is easy to do in writing, would like to get some confirmation of this before proceeding.

                  Thanks in advance

Update after a couple of weeks...
Excellent service from Rob at Austpack..
They tested my AVC for a couple of days and couldn't fault the GPS, but ordered a replacement GPS module as I had said the problem was intermittant. While it was on order they kept the unit on test, and it failed as I had described! So they installed the new GPS, tested it for another few days, and sent it back to me. All happy now. I am getting to like the IGO8, and am even almost up-to-date with the bluetooth now (and it seems to work OK with my new phone - HTC - although it was never happy with the motorola).
So now it has no longer got the bone pointed at it totally by SWMBO, we are perservering and tried the ipod interface over the weekend (1250km drive). Has anyone found a wat to "fast scroll" through the selections of eg artists? We are getting sick of playing songs by artists who start with "A"...

                    cheers

I find the easiest way by far to press 'mode' when in the ipod screen. The screen should stay static with a 'video' logo on it but you can then use the ipod to control and select music. I like the ipod interface so find this way much easier. I then fitted a proclip ipod touch mount and it's great.

                      • scrolling function is a pain... even with the remote you cant just hold it down to fast scroll... with nearly 800 songs i found it really annoying to try to scroll to where i was up to... ( resume function would be nice) so i got around it (not entirely tho) by creating playlists for each letter of the alphabet so that i could put the songs by title into the playlists.. now i have a better way to shortcut into the playlist then scroll to the song.. of course this will also become a pain when the playlists grow in size.

Yes I have done this. You don't need to install anything onto the card as such. Just need to copy all the necessary files and folders to the SD card.

                            • Avc-9000

Well, I have read this thread from top to bottom twice & am going to do it! I have bought a subwoofer, and the AdvancedIce Connects2 aerial lead adapter & tonite I send my money to Rob for the famous AVC-9000!Out goes the RCD 500 & in goes the new unit into my 07 Eos. From what I have read, I can fit it all except the reversing camera & I wonder where to put the subwoofer (it's only 6.5" diam). Probably have to use an auto electrician for these. I will let you know how it goes. Regards, Mark

Read it again. Reversing camera works fine. The feed for the reverse lights power can be found under the dash. Splice the REverse input wire to that wire so that it gets power whenever reverse lights engage. Give the camera a source of power and connect up the RCA video input to the reverse camera RCA input on the deck. Bingo.

*********** MAKE SURE THE GROUND WIRE FOR THE CAMERA'S GROUND GOES TO ITS OWN EARTH TO PREVENT GROUND LOOPS...
I PUT A SCREW INTO THE BODY RIGHT NEAR THE SEAT BELT MOUNT FOR THE REAR SEAT TO GIVE A SOLID EARTH****************

If you also put a splitter and have it feeding into the AUX IN VIDEO .. then you can run the camera while your drive. like a chase cam on my car.
