You can do either. I personally unplug and do the update with a desktop machine with hard-wired connection to the internet.

Others prefer to update in the car with wi-fi so they don't have to "disturb" the wiring/connection with the box.

Plusses/minuses with both, however I think the update is more secure doing it out of the car which is the way I choose to do it.

Firmware Release 0.3.6 - Available Now!

As a few of you may be aware with the latest release (0.3.5) there have been some issues for a number of people. I've had only minor issue with the buttons needing reprogramming (pretty simple fix) however ther firmware release got pulled and now there is a new and improved firmware (0.3.6) with hopefully all the major bugs sorted.

***** Improvements / Update description for RED cluster *****

[+] Solved issue that causes that configuration to not be stored and sometimes user configuration to be reset
[+] Solved issue with automatic closing function that causes malfunction of the windows and battery drainage in some vehicles
[+] From 0.3.5 firmware, the configuration of the steering wheel buttons change and each button can be configured independently, so if after update you can not switch the screens in the Polar FIS main menu, go to configuration menu and SCREEN - POLAR KEYS and configure each key with the desired function

***** Improvements / Update description for WHITE and COLOR cluster *****

[+] Solved issue that causes the configuration to not be stored and sometimes user configuration to be reset
[+] Solved problem that causes the TELEPHONE menu to disappear after switching off Polar FIS

For installation of this update, please use ActiveX from the official website www.auto-polar.com (Update Zone)
Any inquiries, problems or questions, please contact auto-polar staff at www.auto-polar.com/forum

For anyone that has had issues, I would recommend updating to 0.3.6 and providing feedback to the auto-polar team if your issue is resolved.

Should fit into a Passat as long as you have full-height MFD.

Happy to catch up. PM sent.

Buttons you normally navigate between FIS+ screens i.e. RHS multifunction up/down buttons

I've done the update to 0.3.5W1 but would probably suggest hanging off as there are a couple of smallish issues (navigation button settings are not saved).

You can run the update and then set the navigation buttons.

However, I'm sure there'll be a update loaded shortly with the fix.

That's like the preferred OPS display/interface for mathematicians!

I think I'm still on version .33 and I'll stick with it since it works and there's nothing new that benefits me.

Have they sorted out mirror dipping setting not saving?

The other day, lost all control over steering wheel buttons, BT and unit would not automatically turn off with ignition off and keys out.

Suspected loss of coding with navigation or canbus gateway. Checked with VCDS and confirmed coding was correct.

Decided to unplug and replug the AutoPolar and everything was fine again.

So definitely the unit was interrupting the canbus signals.

Treating it as an isolated incident for the moment, but just a tip for those who have seen or experienced similar symptoms!

Actually I'd suggest holding off on installing the 0.3.5 update for a couple more days as it looks like the user parameters may not get saved during the update.

Sounds like the auto-polar guys are onto it though so shouldn't be too long until there's a new 0.3.5 firmware available.
