Its not a massive issue for me, it takes 20 seconds to remove the unit to reset. Just wondering if it happened next time I could leave it like that for a while if i didnt have time to fix immediately.
If you turn off your head unit you should be OK but I wouldn't leave it for an extended time. I suspect your BT unit may also still remain "active", though this will have a lot lower power draw than your RCD/RNS510 head unit.

If you were only going 10 minutes it's not going to be an issue, however if you're going to leave it a couple of days I'd say definitely reset the autopolar and get everything switching off properly.

Keep an eye on it. If it happens again I'd definitely log it with the autopolar guys.

    AutoPolar installed on Scirocco R

Today, shortly after I got a low fuel alert, the autopolar seemed to stop working. The 'phone' autopolar menu wouldn't display, neither would the navigation or audio menu. The reverse camera I installed wouldn't activate on the head unit (though sensor beeping still worked)... and when the car was turned off the radio stayed on, and the steering wheel buttons on the left side (volume, track, mute) stopped working. I haven't had a chance to scan on VCDS yet.

Now I can't say it was related to the autopolar, or if the low fuel warning might had triggered it. But this happened for about 6-8 stop starts... and on stop 7, I quickly unplugged the box from the cable when I had a minute. It all seemed to come good, turning it back on after stop 8. All functions that were lost came back and had no issues since.

I am waiting for registration on the autopolar forums to come through, but noticed this thread

Polar Fis Advanced in VW Scirocco R (ANSWERED)

Which seems to suggest a problem with the box might cause audio and nav menus to stop working at the same time... so just wondering if anything similar happened to anyone else.
I am aware that there have been occasions when the auto-polar does require a "hard" reset. Either by pulling the fuse or removing the box from its harness.

As with all these types of issues if you want a fix then please post the information (details of problem plus full auto-scan if possible) on Autopolar forum so that developers can look into it and hopefully have a solution in the next firmware release.

I don't think that the issue with the other Scirocco is related to your problem. I would just monitor it at this stage and see what happens next time you get a fuel low warning. If it happens again then it's not a coincidence.

If you ever have a situation where the stereo does not turn off then you need to unplug the Autopolar unit or pull the fuse to reset the device. Otherwise you can be left with a flat battery. It's not necessarily an urgent thing, however it does stop comms on the infotainment bus (and hence the signal telling the stereo to turn off doesn't get through).

Pull the fuse (F24 in most Golfs I think) or unplug/replug the box, then turn ignition on and make sure the stereo turns on. Then switch everything off and make sure that the stereo turns off. This way you don't end up with the annoyance of a flat battery.

Note this is for red MFD only (sorry white still only has 4 lines...)

I'll probably do the upgrade this weekend.

Main benefit for this version (apart from mainly bug fixes for Parktronic in red MFD) is for diesel engines having km since last regen parameter available.

Have not been able to. My login somehow doesn't allow me to post anymore.
It happened after I posted my complaint in the mirror dipping thread.

Logged the problem with the web administrator but never got a response.

Have given up trying after that!

Tried the mathematician's OPS display on the MFD.

Still not convinced it's all that helpful and certainly takes up most of your attention & concentration to digest the reading.

However it's confirmed for me that all configuration settings under 'Comfort' menu are not being saved down!

It's bloody another thing that needs to be reconfigured when I get in the car.
But at least it's not every day, like it is with mirror dipping.

I think the OPS display is good if you want to park down to the mm!! Definitely useful in Europe where you need to need to be able to squeeze into tiny parking spaces.

I've only got the reverse sensors fitted and unfortunately don't get the fancy numbers coming up.

I haven't had any issues recently with mirror settings not being saved... curious to find out why this may be happening.
