  • Some good tips there. I keep forgetting to retry this feature so hopefully tomorrow I'll get around to it.

            • Had a stuff around today for 15 minutes and I can confirm that on my normal Mk6 Golf, the PolarFIS is able to automatically dip my left mirror when I select reverse gear. I just haven't got it working 100% how I want it to yet.

So if anyone was wondering if missing hardware was an issue, it appears not to be the case.

The offset have +- mode, it's used to adjust the height of the mirror when you have configure and no return to the desire position.
In Manual mode, the mirror lowers when you select Reverse gear, and the Automatic mode, the mirror lowers if you have the blink and reverse gear. So if you have automatic mode activated and reverse gear the mirror not move, you need to use the blink to work.

              Regards
(I assume by blink they mean indicate, i.e. it will only work when you indicate say to reverse parallel park, but lower every other time you reverse without turning.)

I've fixed up this issue - post #3 now contains instructions for Golf Mk5, Golf Mk6, Jetta Mk5 and Tiguan plus instructions for the mirror dipping.

If there's any new installation stuff I'll look to include it in post #3 so it's all right up the front - save people having to hunt through the whole thread looking for the right info.

                  A couple of things:

                  1) mirror dipping only works on passenger mirror (at the moment anyway).

                  2) you can choose to adjust both mirrors at the same time (manually) - there's an option under mirrors Alt. mode which allows you to move both mirrors together. If you select passenger mirror any adjustment will only move the passenger mirror. If you select the drivers mirror then both will move together when this option is selected.

                  • Really? They just said the driver side mirror isn't wired via the gateway so they can't move it.

That very well may be the case. Mirror dipping on drivers mirror doesn't work for me either so that would make sense.

I just didn't know if it was a software or hardware limitation so if it's hardware that's pretty much terminal for getting mirror dipping on drivers mirror going.

So I'm afraid it's going to be a manual job - but at least you can select to have both mirrors tilt at the same time.

                      • OK. This thread has kind of grown - starting out as a Golf Mk6 install thread and then getting bigger.

To make things easier for people starting out I've created a new thread with all the important info up front including an index to all the relevant posts.

I've copied information from the various posts and threads and consolidated it all in the one place.

So for continued discussion please head over to http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...ide-80439.html
