The 3.2b update is supposed to fix the problem that I reported (check the link from my previous post)

OK after much searching I've finally located the CANBUS gateway in my Tiguan. It's in behind the glove box - requires removal of the glovebox and it is very simple install once this is removed.
Glovebox removal instructions (thanks to bambazonke):
1. Remove 5 torx screws (3 at top and 2 at the bottom)
2. Unclip side panel by wedging upwards and then pulling out from rubber door seal
3. Wedge carefully out cubby hole light and unplug
4. Slide glove box out and then unclip rubber tube from air con to cool glove box
5. Unclip glove box light switch from the back of the glove box near the air con tube as discussed in step 4
6. Unclip open/close contact switch from centre back of glove box housing
7. Assembly is in reverse order.
Then you'll see that gateway connector right in front of you:
I've stashed the Autopolar FIS+ box just under the removable trim in the footwell so there's only a wing nut to undo and easy access to the unit for future firmware upgrades.

I've asked autopolar to get back to me with a procedure/list of vehicles that support mirror dipping feature so this is the next thing on my "hit list".
If I can get this feature going it will be great.

Disconnecting the battery in itself causes the ESP error - it's nothing to worry about and disappears when you drive for a few seconds

Yes mine also threw a fault which cleared after driving. I think this is a side-effect of disconnecting the battery.Last edited by tigger73; 09-12-2012, 08:47 PM.

3 methods of accessing the gateway now - I think they should all appear in the first post and remove 118TSI from the heading

I have updated the online Shreadsheet of FIS+ info:
Added Car Specific Installation information to help users know where the CANBUS is located, and how it can be accessed, and where to store the FIS+ box. I added the following rows: Vehicle (RHD/LHD), CANBUS module Location, FIS+/CANBUS Cable Installation acces via, Auto-Polar FIS+ box located\( O ) o\====(\X/)=TDI=/o ( O )/ 2011 Jetta Mk5 125TDI - Squidly

Yes mostly. Though because the video is in Spanish it's a little hard to follow.
Instead of right mirror you select the left one (as that's the one you need to see the curb on anyway) and set the "normal" and "dipped" positions. I did play around with the settings from OFF/Manual/Automatic and settled on Auto (not sure if this is to do with DSG/manual transmission or what??) but after a bit I got the mirror to dip when selecting revese gear.
I'm not sure if you need to or not but the mirror selector switch is on the left mirror - haven't tried setting it in other positions when selecting reverse to see if it still works in other setting positions.
Will have to disable it and then work out the "procedure" to enable it again - maybe even make a video with the menus in English
