I have just looked at the BT module and found it to be 7P6 035 730 B. From investigations this seems to be a 9w7 however, can anyone tell me if this particular model will support media control / track listing or will I have to upgrade the BT module also??

    Thanks in advance.
Just curious Did you buy that one that was on Gumtree If so did you get the unlock code

      • So I've been experiencing some issues lately with the bluetooth in my mk7 GTI-PP, and its been driving me mental :| hoping there might be a fix out there...

I'm pairing with my HTC One M8, running Android 4.4.4. THe head unit is the standard one that came with the car (which i believe is the Discover Media 5.8")

The pairing process is fine, and phone functionality has no issues. I've had the Mk7 for about 8 months now, and up until the last few weeks everything has been working well.

However, in the last couple of weeks, when i switch the head-unit to bluetooth, while it connected OK, and i can control the phone via the head-unit & steering wheel buttons, (play/pause, mute, next track, etc) the audio will not come out the car's speakers - its coming out of the speakers on the phone itself. This would happen with all audio apps (stock Music player, Spotify, Stitcher, SoundCloud). There is an option for 'Media Output' on the phone, and it was always set to the VW Bluetooth Device

When this first started happening, i would unpair the phone & head-unit, then re-pair, and it would start working. Then the next time it happened, i had to un-pair/re-pair about 4-5 times before it would commence working again. Then that fix wouldn't take, i would have to un-pair, delete all BT devices from both phone & head-unit, reboot the phone, and then re-pair. Again that would work for a while.

But then this morning it was getting even worse - after going through that whole process above a few times, the audio started coming out of the car's speakers, but then mid-track, without even touching either the phone or head-unit, it switched to the phone's speakers again. Happened a couple of times on my morning commute...

Needless to say, this issue has been causing me much rage-ahol . Mainly around the inconsistency of the symptoms or any possible fix - it just seems to occur randomly and with no discernible pattern

Anyone know of anything i could do to try and remedy the situation? i have got it booked in to my local VW dealer for an un-related issue, and there service mgr i spoke to did indicate they have had some issues with BT and the head-units, which have been replaced under warranty. If that fixes it - great! But part of me is worried its something with the phone - possibly a Android/HTC update or some such...

        • Sounds like a phone issue. I would try with another phone first if you can. I have that phone with a custom ROM and have never had any such issues.
The Android L update will be out at some point in the future but if you are running the stock carrier ROM on your phone that might be a few months at least.

I don't think anybody responded, but I can recall an answer in another forum, which said that SMS notification sound comes through differently than ringing, it comes on the same way as the music for example. So the only way to hear the SMS sound is when I set the unit to Media and click on the Bluetooth icon or actually listening music on my iPhone through the BT unit.
If I am listening to Radio or CD, I will not hear the SMS sound.

Also that's why I cannot hear the sound of videos for example in Facebook or Youtube, while my phone is connected to the BT unit, but I am listening to Radio. I have to change the source of the sound to Media and Bluetooth to be able to hear it. Do not use Facebook or Youtube while you are driving!

              • Whoops, I just saw this thread, here is my original question

                Hi guys,
Extremely new to all this, I think I have it figured out but I am looking for confirmation...

I have (very) recently bought a 2010 Passat wagon with a Voice Control enabled RNS510 with Sat Nav. I installed the Kufatec Basic Plus unit yesterday and have mixed results. I had to install the Kufatec mic as well, is this normal? I would prefer just the one mic but I can live with that. My main issue is I do not have the Kufatec menu on the MFD... This means I can't set alot of things up. I have no skip control on my AD2P streaming (iPhone 6), I get a little pop noise as I take the key from the ignition & Siri and the VW Voice control seem to race each other at times. On the plus side, I have full phonebook and call list access, and streaming does work with excellent quality. The phone button on the steering wheel does nothing, the voice control button fires the Starter's Pistol for Siri and VW voice control.

Now, I have done no programming. Would the appropriate VCDS programming sort out these issues or do I not require further programming as I have the unit semi-functional & maybe I have missed a step? I have played around with the various activation codes in the Kufatec manual which seem to break it to varying degrees. I think my main goal must be the MFD menu. Thoughts?

                • Probably need to add it as a device in the canbus gateway installation list. This is the case with OEM and other OEM-like aftermarket units I have seen. Can't speak for the kufatec unit specifically as I've not used one.

                    • Possibly. I would never rely on them however as they are notoriously fragile.

I've installed a 9w7 BT into a rcd510 for my 08 golf mkv. BT is working, however a2dp music streaming is not working. Do I need to activate it with vcds or is there something else I need to do?

                        • It can be deactivated with vcds however that's not the default setting. Can you expand on 'not working'? What phone, what are the symptoms?

BT audio option on rcd greyed out. IPhone 5s. Play music on phone but not detected on head unit.

                            • Just wondering if anyone here as a working and functioning Kufatec Fiscon Basic+ unit and could help me out with some info and settings? It's in 201 R36 with RNS510 and while it works, it's bloody frustrating at times and seems old and slow. Just keen to know if anyone has one... thanks

                              • Hi guys,

I've gone through this whole thread, and haven't found anything specific to what I'd like to do,so I'll post it here and see if anyone is able/kind enough to fill me in:

                                I have a 2010 mk6 103TDI Highline Golf wagon and want to add bluetooth,the same as my wife's 2014 103TDI Tiguan.
The Golf runs a white MFD,RCD310 & multi function steering wheel (same as the Tig), and has a booklet on various bluetooth units in with the service/owner's manuals, but no bluetooth unit appears to be in the car,and I didn't find one when we last plugged VCDS into it.
A mate is stripping a 6J Fabia RS and has offered me the bluetooth kit out of that car. Is this unit likely to be plug and quick VCDS coding affair or a lot more involved?
If anyone can offer a walk-through (and/or tips for VCDS coding) it'd be greatly appreciated.

                                Regards,

                                Justin...
