As for firmware, I'm happy to send you the latest firmware I have as a one-off but if you would like to subscribe to my firmware update service it is $25AUD per my OP.
DkN - just so I understand, do you have to pay the $25 to get firmware updates, or can people go elsewhere (ie: a download site)?
thanks

Okay I will try to answer all of the last few posts.
Firstly regarding the screen - it is not matte and never will be matte. I don't know if anyone has actually used a matte screen or a matte screen protector before, but the reduction in glare comes at the price of clarity. Having said that, the screen is a little more reflective than it could be. Whether it will bother you is just personal preference. If it does you can get an anti reflective screen protector, but I would not recommend matte.
Regarding DAB+, I already mentioned in my update post that it will not be available on first release and will come later, but there is no ETA at the moment.
If you buy the unit from me there is no firmware update fee, it's only if you bought your unit elsewhere and would like to keep up to date. I get regular enquires about firmware as it is and if I put up updates for public download I'm afraid I will get bombarded, especially if people choose to ignore / skim over update instructions.
That said, if you bought your unit from Audiosources direct, you can periodically ask your sales rep for updates (they don't do update subscription and would have limited technical experience).
The new unit will be coming early April, again I did mention this in my update post linked to in the first post. We're almost there! Been seeing some promising pictures direct from their manager
@DkN
Because I'm interesting to purchase the ANS-610, I want to ask if there is any drain battery issue when installing ANS series in MKV GOLF or JETTA earlier than 06/2006 model. These models they have stock unit RCD 300/500 and if you install RCD 310/510 there is definitely drain battery issue because of the older can bus. These cars they use the type 1 steering wheel buttons like the picture below.
So i need to be 100% sure before i make the order.
I cut out a matte screen protector from an ipad piece I had laying around. Works "OK" for me.
Give it a go and if you dont like it , remove it. Easy to play with.

DkN, if i switch my current climate controls in my 2008 R32 to the MK6 one, will it work with the ANS810 or the new units?
Thank you,
Na'el
The climatronics replacement is just a drop in, it doesn't change the fact that your CAN-Bus does not store air con information. You'd have to change your CAN-Bus to mk6 for it to work, though I don't know of anyone who's done that so I don't know if there are other consequences for doing that.
