  • Yes that was how the screen used to look like. Now there is also a static, straight reverse path which is shown together with the dynamic path. Like I said they only did this to bring it in line with the RNS-510, Google for RNS-510 reverse camera and you will see.

      • so the static line are not on the camera? they're on the ans?

getting a new camera will make no difference?

        thanks again.

You know as much as I know at this stage, Audiosources is hard at work preparing for the HK electronics fair at the moment which happens in the middle of this month. They may plan to debut the new unit then, but either way we can only wait now.

That's correct. If you did chance upon a camera with hard coded lines it would show triple now. So for others sourcing cameras from elsewhere, it's still important to get one without hard coded lines.

          • [QUOTE=DkN;934263]Yes if you use the brown back conn wire then you wouldn't need a relay, since that wire is designed to directly power the camera.

            QUOTE]

Not all have the brown rev wire connected in the terminal block. I had to add a connector and wire for mine.
The label on the unit shows where it goes (ANS-810)
Prev I just ran from the rev light at the rear.
Wanted to see if it made any diff to the way it worked but no, either way seems ok.
Reason was the earlier firmware with its rev switching issues.

            • The brown back conn wire is a recent addition, it began about 2 months or so ago.

Not sure what you're saying about what you have done and tested but if you're saying the reverse camera not showing up / being glitchy is due to the firmware, that's not likely to be the case. There was one version from October that prevented the RVC from displaying but that was fixed in the next release.

As I said issues with powering the camera directly from the reverse wire has been documented on this forum before, with aftermarket install of the OEM camera connected to RNS/RCD 510. It has nothing to do with the ANS unit.

              • I have sent videos to Audiosources. Sometimed the rev cam comes up, sometimes it needs a 2nd go, sometimes it doesnt.
If you put straight into rev when you start off the gps doesnt always fire up. Its something to do with the interaction between the 2 processors I reckon.
If your saying there are no issues now what version is that please?

That sounds more like a wiring issue. You mentioned you put in the wire yourself, how certain are you that it's making proper connection? Also that wire is supposed to run on different MCU.

If you connect your camera to a permanent stable 12V source you can confirm if there's a problem yourself. Just manually connect / disconnect the 12V source to see if power source is indeed the issue, the unit will switch to RVC whenever signal in its reverse cam in source is detected, regardless of what screen your unit is on.

                  • The same issue with variations has been present on a couple of updates. Audiosources confirmed it.
I am confident of my abilities to modify simple connectors and the like. One of my prevoius backgrounds was in electronic hardware.
Camera has been tested previously on straight 12v source.

There still remains the issue of possible wrong MCU, if you are 100% confident with the wiring. Remember you are talking with sales staff when you talk to Audiosources and they may not always know the answer. I have many customers with RVC, no one ever said anything about the RVC sometimes not starting up in reverse. There is no second processor to conflict with, the ANS uses the one ARM11 CPU for all operations.

GPS not firing up when you go straight into reverse is possible, but for different reasons. I assume by GPS not firing up you mean the unit itself. Sometimes going straight into reverse the unit itself does not fire up until you are out of reverse. It has to do with the function of seeing the reverse camera even when the unit is not powered on and you are in reverse. There's a slight delay when you start the car before the unit is powered on, and if you go quickly into reverse the unit may not realise it is powering on yet and think it's in reverse camera only mode. It would then show you the camera without starting the unit.

Do you have a link to that post?

AFAIK they only have test stock at the moment, but yes the Touareg 2010+ unit is the first of the new units and the one they are fine-tuning / experimenting on.

That link is not the right unit, it's not Audiosources at all. Forgetting the fact that I mentioned the new unit would have Dual Core Cortex A9 1.2Ghz CPU, why would Audiosources take a step backwards with a generic rather than OEM UI?

Also, the Touareg 2010+ unit is the RNS-850, you can Google some images to see what it looks like.

The news for the finalised release date is still being tightly sealed. As I said though they will be attending the HK Electronics Fair from 13 April and some news will be realeased then.

                              • Yup, that's definitely not Audiosources. They don't have a US distributor yet. But I suspect things are going to change very quickly once the new unit is released
