Just to make your life easier I would install the original radio. Then plead ignorance.
I had a battery die in my last car after about 18 months and it was replaced under warranty. I may or may not have contributed to its early demise...

I agree, but there is a way to mesure the battery drain and if there is a b.drain it would be just a matter of removing the radio fuse to test if the unit is at the fault, which I daubt would be the case, if wired properly.Performance Tunes from $850Wrecking RS OCTAVIA 2 Link

Ever since I've got the ANS-810, the SatNav has driven me insane. About 50% of the time I start it up, it would take anything up to 10 minutes to get a signal. I've done some testing, and I think I have figured out what the problem is.
Both at home and work, I park my car in an underground car-park. I don't get any gps signal. Over the last 2 weeks, I've waited until I'm just about to exit the car-park to turn the SatNav on. At home, it gets a signal within a minute after it has finished booting (most of the time, straight after booting up). At work, it takes a few minutes, but I attribute that to the tall buildings around.
I'm wondering if there is some logic in the SatNav system that says that if it doesn't get a signal within a certain amount of time after booting up, it goes into some sort of timer routine to check for a signal. This is pure speculation on my part.
All I know is that it works as it should now. Of course, I can no longer use the SatNav auto boot after power up.CW MY12 5Dr manual GTI. ANS-810 head unit.

Do you have the screen brightness set on high? You could also consider an anti-glare screen protector, though they tend to be matte and may reduce screen clarity.
As for RVC that does work fine, the latest firmware seems to only have reversed the sensor for OPS so that people without OPS see the OPS screen and people with OPS don't. If you have RVC but not OPS, this wouldn't really affect you, but if you didn't have RVC either, and it thinks you have OPS, it will switch to the full screen OPS menu where you will be stuck with it when in reverse.TR 08 Golf GT TDI, Custom Code Phase 1, Milltek Exhaust, Whiteline RSB + ALK, APR Carbonio Intake

Agreed, mine was coming up with the OPS with the RVC connected but there is a little arrow head on the screen that I pressed and it moved the OPS screen (which was on top of the RVC screen) completely away. Win! The Matt screen protector, where do you obtain one that fits the 7 inch screen version?
