Yes but this is still coming for both the current and new generation units so I didn't consider it as a unique function coming in the new generation.

Last I heard from Audiosources before they went on break though they were expecting more delays with the OBD2 module, they've successfully tested the prototype module but there are delays in getting it mass produced so it's likely going to be released after the new units are released.

    • Hi DkN,

I have a Mk5 MY08 GTi, I was just wondering, do the head units you sell support the OEM 6 stack CD player?

No, there is no support for the 6 stack CD player. Their AS-7609G model which runs a Zenec style interface (instead of OEM) has a virtual 6 CD function, but I'm not clear on how it operates and whether it is likely to be ported to the ANS units. It depends on demand I suppose and for 6 CD it has not been very high.

        • Hi!

I'm new here, I'm here because of the new Audiosources unit that DkN is talking about. I'm really excited about it, all the news sounds great.

The one thing that worries me is that I hope AS focuses on making a strong unit, not just a unit with 50 features but all of them with bugs.

This glitch, when it happens, like to do so either on boot, or on the 3rd song that you skip to after you turn on the unit. It's been hard to pin down and you are the only other person so far that I know of that has it, which is why it hasn't been resolved yet. When it happens though, you just need to switch to another source like Radio and switch back, and it should reset. If you find the problem keeps occurring, do a soft factory reset through setup -> general, take out your media SD card, re-flash the latest firmware, let the unit boot into radio, then re-insert the SD card.

I am also pushing for Audiosources to perfect the software at least in its current form, this seems more likely now that they are not discontinuing the current generation.
OK, thanks for the information, I tried your suggestion (full reset) and the problem is still there. I've noticed the problem occurs even when not skipping tracks. I'll start playing an album and without interacting with the unit, eventually after track X the playback will stop and display current playback time as 12:15. If you can feed this back to the audiosources team it would be greatly appreciated, hopefully the 12:15 might give them a clue to where things are failing if it's a software related bug.

I'd love this as well, but I just need japanese. I know my RCD510 can display most characters.

                • I just tested on my unit, it does indeed display Japanese but does not display Korean.

Video display from iPhone is not a problem, there is an auxiliary video-in RCA connection that you can use with an iPhone video-out adapter. You can hook up the aux audio-in too while you're at it if you want.

Can you do the video through the USB for the iPhone?

AFAIK USB does not have audio / video capabilities. The only way to get video across from USB is by playing a video file from a USB connected device. That's if your iPhone allows itself to mount as a mass storage device (which I don't think is possible without jailbreaking).
If you could transmit audio / video directly over USB then there would have been no need for HDMI.

Yes actually it is at the back of the unit, the RCA connector labelled "subwoofer". If your sub has L + R in, just use a Y splitter.

                          • Btw if not mistaken the unit can play movie files direct through USB stick.

Yes, but if you want to play video files through iPhone to USB, the iPhone has to be able to mount as a mass storage device first. Maybe it can do this for videos and pictures, I'm not sure - I don't own an iPhone and wouldn't ever want to. Its restrictive nature really ticks me off - my family has an iPad and it never ceases to annoy me.

Thanks for the clarification with those pictures

Sorry I meant iPod interface. My old Pioneer head unit that had an iPod interface allowed video and audio from my iPhone.
