Hi Guys,

Most of you know iOS6.1 is now out for iPhones, well I noticed today it has unlocked a cool feature when you're using an iPhone connected to the ANS via the ipod cable, the music app is now unlocked! Which means you can completely control the music via the iphone rather then the awkward menu on the ANS. It probably wont impact too many users but I personally find it very helpful when trying to listen to a particular part of a long dj set/ pod cast.

Apple iOS 6.1 change log:

If your device is connected to a car with an iPod compatible USB interface, the Music app is no longer locked out as "Accessory Connected". The controls are now available.

In a future firmware update of the ANS unit I would love to see support for an Android device via the usb cable, I plugged in my Android the other day and the ANS just got stuck on the VW screen, wouldnt let me play the music on the device or stream radio from it, ill just have to stick with my company issued iPhone for now..

I will not come on. It keeps blowing fuses.

I changed fuse and it blows immediately.

Sounds like a warranty issue - it's almost impossible to tell you what is wrong just because it's blowing fuses. Any part of the circuits on the hardware could be causing a short.

That is such good news...... BUT it highlights a different problem.
The playback feedback on the ANS screen does not actually come directly from the iPhone, but from a cached list.
So in this new mode you can use the screen of the iPhone to chose music and transport controls AT THE SAME TIME as doing transport controls on the ANS and the steering wheel, plus RANDOM and REPEAT now folow what the iPhone is set to. But the playback text feedback displayed on the ANS is completley wrong.

If you chose to browse from the ANS then nothing much appears to have changed.

So for me this is a very good change.... mostly.

Interesting point - I'd have to pass that on to Audiosources. I would imagine though a lot of devices would now have this problem if you use this new mode, that's probably why the iPhone was originally locked out when in accessory mode. It just means programmers will have code things a bit differently to reflect new information coming from the iPhone's end.

I did notice that, its a bit annoying but not too bad considering you can see the correct title on the screen of the iPhone (whilst you're not driving of course).

2 corrections to my post on new iOS 6.1.
The ALBUM & ARTIST info are correct. My bad. Only the TRACK info is cached.

secondly, please can Audiosources only send a PLAY command on power up or App startup. Then the iPod would pick up where you left it instead of always playing the first song in list of songs.

whilst I think the unit needs a full browse interface itself, this would be a quick and dirty solution .

Try a soft reset from setup -> general, after that flash the latest MPU again with no SD card in the media slot. After the flash completes and the unit turns on to radio screen, insert the SD card and see if it loads.

If that still does not work PM me and we will discuss further.

Sounds like exactly the same issues I'm having with my ANS810!

SD Card Issues + General bugs

Installed the lastest firmware, seems to have a reocurring SD card bug. After starting the unit and playing a folder on the SD card, eventually after switching between 2-3 folders over a period of time the unit stops playing the music from the SD card. The current track is displayed however nothing plays, one thing that's common when the problem occurs is that the current playtime of the track is always shown as 12:15, this depsite the track only being 3-4 minutes in length.
I've tested with several differnet SD cards and also different tracks, eventually the unit will also get to the situation was playback fails and current playback position is 12:15.

Also experiencing various lockups when switching between sources, but to keep this post brief the above is causing me the most problems at the moment.

Other than the above, the unit has really progressed over the past few months and I would like to state my thanks to DKN for his assistance and continued support in this thread. I think Audiosources should really try and perfect this unit form a software point of view before dedicating all their efforts on the new unit.

^ Its interesting (and OT) to note that the genuine RCD510 has problems as well. I use a USB drive now in preference to an SD card. The SD card seems to have lots of problems in comparison to the USB. A bit odd, given both have exactly the same songs / format, etc.

Goes to show that its not just the "after market" gear that has issues.

anyway, looking forward to getting the next generation of the ANS810...

About the SD Card issue, it has happened on my own unit but it seems to be a rare bug. This glitch, when it happens, like to do so either on boot, or on the 3rd song that you skip to after you turn on the unit. It's been hard to pin down and you are the only other person so far that I know of that has it, which is why it hasn't been resolved yet. When it happens though, you just need to switch to another source like Radio and switch back, and it should reset. If you find the problem keeps occurring, do a soft factory reset through setup -> general, take out your media SD card, re-flash the latest firmware, let the unit boot into radio, then re-insert the SD card.

I am also pushing for Audiosources to perfect the software at least in its current form, this seems more likely now that they are not discontinuing the current generation.
