I will investigate this option, but does anyone have feedback on DAB station quality and coverage? I have not used DAB+ myself, but the reception coverage and quality would vary from location to location. Quality might also vary in terms of bitrate choice made by each station - do they generally sound good here in Aus?TR 08 Golf GT TDI, Custom Code Phase 1, Milltek Exhaust, Whiteline RSB + ALK, APR Carbonio Intake

Yeah, just wondering if it's worthwile to keep the normal radio tuner for now if DAB+ is implemented. By the sound of things though it looks to be safe to just switch over to DAB+. I will speak with my tech later, should stop slacking off at work now...

DAB+ would solve the lack of AM as well

I will have more info on DAB+ soon, my tech is tending to other visiting clients right now.
He has however confirmed with me that the unit is fully compatible with Dynaudio, and he has had many clients with Dynaudio successfully install the ANS.TR 08 Golf GT TDI, Custom Code Phase 1, Milltek Exhaust, Whiteline RSB + ALK, APR Carbonio Intake

Correct, the only missing function is display of dual zone AC controls on screen, I believe this is because the mk5 CANBUS platform simply doesn't store this information. You do not need to update it. I have the unit in my own mk5 Golf.Originally posted by lhennessy View PostI have an 06 TDI MK5 Golf this would be fully compatable correct? plug and play?

The ANS series is still not very well known in Australia so it might be hard to find. The older AS-7608 / 7609 was quite popular around here, but those units had the cheaper tacky software with various interface flaws / glitches, and missing functions compared with the ANS. Also despite physical similarity the hardware is completely different. So if you do find someone, make sure they don't just have the AS-7608 / 7609.Originally posted by lhennessy View PostAnyone in melbourne S/E got one of these? really wanna have a look and a play.Last edited by DkN; 27-06-2012, 10:00 PM.TR 08 Golf GT TDI, Custom Code Phase 1, Milltek Exhaust, Whiteline RSB + ALK, APR Carbonio Intake

You're referring to the half screen MFD that was discontinued in 07 - I believe prior to that you get the half screen unless you have factory satnav. The half screen MFD cannot display any information other than the data seen on the fuel consumption screen - I don't know if you need to change this for the RNS-510, but certainly any info RNS-510 has to show on MFD will not display with the half screen version. The CANBUS version is the same. In fact I'm fairly certain the RNS-510 will still function with the half screen MFD, minus the MFD display. This is how it would be with the ANS-810 or ANS-510, you lose MFD display but everything functions the same otherwise.Originally posted by lhennessy View PostWhat year is your MK5? because i allways hear that they changed it after late 06 or some time 07 and i know that for the RNS510 i have to change it according to what iv seen on hereTR 08 Golf GT TDI, Custom Code Phase 1, Milltek Exhaust, Whiteline RSB + ALK, APR Carbonio Intake

Can anyone tell me if this GPS aerial connection will plug straight into the RNS 510 aerial socket, please?

Thanks
I have a factory fitted GPS aerial (sharkfin) and want to know it this connection is the same. Meaning, I would like to plug the factory aerial fitting into the ANS 810.
No matter, I found this on Ebay

I do believe (but someone with the sharkfin antenna should confirm) the factory sharkfin antenna has four separate FAKRA connectors? If that is the case, you can cut the GPS FAKRA and retrofit your own SMA style plug above, or if you don't want to touch the factory antenna just leave the sharkfin GPS unplugged and plug in the provided SMA antenna. It shouldn't be any issue to hide it underneath the dash, I simply haven't bothered to look for a spot in my car as I probably will take my unit out again numerous times to experiment with
