My biggest concern with buying chinese units is the 'feel' of the product. Can anyone that has one comment on this? Does the buttons feel cheap, when pressing buttons is there a smooth click or a harsh plastic click, does the materials compare to an rns 510. You may have already answered this by the refinement comment, but i wanted to clarify if that was referring to software or hardware.
From the photos it looks great and i'm considering acquiring one but only if the unit does feel 'cheap' software refinements i'm ot fussed as most of the time it'll be playing stuff.
Thanks!
Hi Mate, as DkN mentioned I've got an ANS-810 in my wife's MK V Jetta and happy for you to come around and have a look. I'm SoR (manning)
Very happy with the unit and as I have an RNS in my Golf can compare the two and confirm the ANS feels OEM and is terrific value.
Is there a version that will fit the MK4 Golfs/Boras and Polo 9N3s?

Yup there is indeed, I have updated the first post with more info and a picture.
I have two people lined up for special order units and one more interested party, so once I get confirmations I will be make an order for these units right away.

Price on the older model units? Older cars, so should be less
And specification wise and functionally the same as the ANS510?

Just got my ANS-810 yesterday and it works great! I do have an issue with the SD card MP3 files though. My card is loaded up with folders and music files in those folders - when starting up initially it either won't play or the file tree looks empty when pressing FOLDER. Then after one song plays OR you go to another module (RADIO/DISC) then the files all come back and play fine. Not a huge problem, but is annoying if you want to change the track right away after starting up.
Also, the NAV system is quite slow to respond when switching from SD/DISC/RADIO to the map. Is there a firmware update to fix this? I just bought my unit but who knows if its updated or not. My old AS7608 responded so quickly when jumping from music to NAV screen. Also never had a problem with the SD card files on that unit. Although my AS7608 sound died after 8 short months, but I'm happy to have the bigger screen now and currently working with audiosources directly to get my old unit fixed.
There has been updates and the satnav switch is now pretty much instantaneous. I've not experimented much with folders, I recommend putting everything in one folder and let it shuffle, because shuffle does not go outside of the current folder at the moment. No issues with changing tracks right away on startup if you use one folder. Latest firmware may have also fixed the folder issue you are describing but I wouldn't know with my SD card.
If you're working directly with Audiosources then you could ask them for firmware updates. All the salespeople get them these days, although not always the latest iteration since they release a few updates a month currently.
Otherwise I offer a support service for $25 AUD (lifetime subscription ) in which I will add you to my customer's list to send you the latest stable firmware after I test them and provide all related support with issues / installation. However I can only help with GPS software if you are using iGo Primo and I can't provide map updates as I only have Aus / NZ maps.
ahh bummer, I hope there is a new firmware available. Dealing with audiosources support has been interesting being half way around the world from them. One question takes 3 days to answer back and forth.
Are there public links available for the firmware updates or I have to get it from them??

I know of one public link on China-RNS forums (which is not quite really public I suppose since it requires registration on the forums before you can see them) but it is also old firmware now, plus there are two different versions depending on your bluetooth hardware and it makes no indication of that.
Like I said I can provide an active service with support but otherwise you could just ask Audiosources periodically, the unit is under rigorous development and there are new features and improvements added constantly.
alright, I will check in with Audiosources and see how their support treats me, and otherwise I will surely take you up on your offer as you have been a HUGE wealth of knowledge thus far on this forum and I just found you on GOLFMKV as well. Are you on GOLFMK6.com?
