        • Hope someone can help.
          MY Unit is Rns 510, 1T0 035 680 R, 40GB Sd Drive, C14, Hardware H27, Firmware 6276, Map upgraded to V13.

After some research and looking at firmware file scripts, looks like drive is corrupt and needs reformatting or replacing but FW 6276 only updates existing files, looks like I need firmware 62xx that does a new install with a disk format of 3 partitions.

          Any assistance much appreciated.

If you are in the UK then you'll need a large map partition.
I have an upgrade for 6276, but with a small map partition (for Aus/NZ). I don't have access to my tools I need to build a new one at the moment, but there are firmware images available that will just do a format of the partitions, just may need to enable firmware downgrade.
Let us know if you are still having problems and I'll try and sort something out for you.

            • Hi guys

Looking for some advice, after searching I came across the solution to my boot loop problem and upgraded to firmware version 4020.
Can I upgrade to a later version? The details on my unit are:
Model: 1T0035680D (was B before update)
              HW:11
              SW:4020

Also I noticed that I don't have POIs anymore do I need to do a downgrade to a lower version to get the partitions then go to the later version?

Thanks in advance for your help

              • Use 5238. If your pois have been deleted you need to reload them.

                  Thanks for the quick reply!
Should the POI be on the maps DVD?

                  • There are pois integrated into the maps DVD however for personal pois you need to install via SD card.

                    • I can confirm that the 5238 firmware works fine on my 1T0 035 680 B HW:H11 RNS 510. I previously had the 4020 firmware from this forum on it and the upgrade to 5238 went fine. It now reports a delivery part nr 1T0 035 680 L which previously was D.

                        • Hi all
Just wondering if you guys could share your advice. My 2011 Mk 6 R came with a Japanese Panasonic stereo. I replaced it with a Chinese knockoff till I find an RNS510 to put in. I have been offered the following one but I'm not sure if it can be used or not??

                          RNS510
                          Part number: 3C0 035 681 B
                          H/W: H13
                          S/W: 2960

The guy says it has Japanese maps on but everything is in English? Also the FM bands are Japanese ones.

                          Questions are:
Can I change something inside the unit to make the bands work for NZ? Or maybe a software change fixes this?
Can I install NZ maps on?

                          Thanks again for any help

                          Paul

                          • No do not try and use a Japanese unit.
Get one from Au/NZ or Europe.

                            • Hi All!

I need you, your special knowledge!

I have a Higline MK6 Golf with an RNS510. The MAP and SW was really outdated, so after installing a new GPS antenna (original had broken) i wanted to upgrade the system.
                              The HW rev is C.
I have no idea what was the SW originally, as hide menu didn't show anything regarding this.

I tried to install 5274 (as i have heard many positive feedback.... and after researching of course many issues...) without success. Many time i've got back RADIO LIBRARY faulty. I tried two different disc (one is 100% should work as i've got it from an an other VW owner). The RECOVERY DISC helped and got an 5274 FW version with working navigation, BUT sound, radio, media didn't work at all!

Sure, i was stupid, i thought i install new V14 MAP via SD card and after it i will sort the FW. I've got a message after about 35mins, SWL Update was successfully. But after manually reboot, now it has started to rebooting continuously.... (i am getting only the welcome screen, nothing else, like a red line at bottom and topline writing insert SWL...)

I've already tried everything (I guess):
                              - recovery disc
                              - reattempting the 5274 FW disc
                              - pressing all knowns key combinations... SETUP + EJECT+STAR (<>+Ej+Star)

When key is under ignition, it is on reboot loop, when car is off, and pressing ON, it just tried to BOOT and i can her some disc reading voices and after screen goes to blank...

                              No idea what to do...
I've a really positive mood, hoping that i can repair vie SW way... and not final HW faulty. I've read many other posts with similar issues with this FW version.

My plan is to try insert a previous 5238 FW installer CD/DVD, (i made available downgrade option in hidden menu). However i am a little bit sceptic as RNS haven't react to other SWL discs...

I am really glad to getting any useful tips and advices!

                              • I have seen some units respond badly to 5274 firmware. Not sure why.
                                Reboots and generally unstable.

Try 5238 it is the most stable on most units.
