Yes it could be a firmware issue, could also be a number of other things.
Try loading 5238 firmware to see if it fixes it.

Is new firmware include text to.speech option. I have rns-510 with 5xxx firmware and still can not.enable that feature...

There is no full text to speech as in 'In 200 metres, turn left into Smith St.'

There is limited implementation of, 'In 200m, turn left towards Funkytown.' This is a bit hit and miss, and often results in 'Turn left toward...dummy' if it can't determine the town.

It's not configurable. Try changing the voice to/from English male (setup-> system-> language)

Hi I have tried downloading the 5238 firmware a number of times from gti.com but it keeps failing around half way, do you know of any other source?
I managed to download the old x4020 firmware, and burnt the iso to a DVD but when i power up the rns510 it does not seem to read anything of the disc, i believe it attempts to read the disc but then just powers down and keeps cycling to a reboot.
Any help would be appreciated.
