Firmware updates for European RNS510 units

hey kamold - u reckon i'll b fine upgrading to the 4020 firmware on my rns510 (columbus)?
like u, i have a my11 RS.

currently running firmware 2724 on a 3T0 035 680 A (HW: H41; B: 26.08.2010)
maps v5.1.

i'm presuming i'll loose both the maps & music on the hdd?

what about phone (bluetooth) - will it forget all the saved speed dials? user profiles?
i've got a 9wz bluetooth unit.

Yep you can upgrade to 402x no problem. You will lose music and maps.
Radio presets unaffected, bluetooth is a separate module so also not affected.

took the plunge & did the firmware upgrade today.
all good sofar - new firmware (4024) - reload maps (v5) - loaded POI provided.

however i can't get the new logo screen change thingy to work, despite enabling software downgrade in the secret setup menu.
i get a software error. oh well.
maybe i need to burn it differently.

if you mean the boot log on,
try to burn it as low as possible

Yep usual situation. Use cdburnerxp at slowest speed using track at once recording. Only way I could get a custom logo to be applied.

i've installed cdburnerxp.

do u remember which burn method to use?
- track at once
- disc at once p-w
- disc at once p+q
- session at once

the slowest i can record is at 1x.

all good now.
my columbus is now sporting a new startup boot logo.

can't get the Map 6792 EU to work always disk error on the navi
and 1X speed? i've got DVD said x8 speed on it!
means the lowest is 8 or i can go lower?

You can burn the CD on lower speed. X8 speed on it is maximum write speed of the media.

What DVD media (brand) are you using?

Performed update on my RNS 510 Rev. A

Went from 3810a_noru to 4020 Modified
Used Verbatim DVD-R, burned with cdburnerxp, 4x speed and Track at once.
Enabled Downgrade in secret menu.
Made an hard reset and the I applied custom bootlogo.
Used TDK CD-R, burned with cdburnerxp, 1x speed and Track at once.

New bootlogo, VIM and HDD partitions as promised.

Loaded Western Europe v8 maps Speedcams Edition (cd 7692) to the HDD

Everything works! No problems at all!

What burning software are you using?
What DVD media (brand) are you using?

i tried Nero, Imgburn, cdburnerxp
i am using like 5 different medias
Platinum DL DVD,Imation, Philips,...

Might be worth just trying a cd lens cleaner and see if that helps
