awesome kamold thanks. All updated to latest 4120 FW and 7970 v6 maps (confirmed in secret menu). Having trouble getting a satellite tho. Went for a drive but that didn't fix it, just shows a blank map. Have had this issue before as have others but usually a short drive fixes the issue. Any advice?

Normally does sort itself out when you're outside!
Did you load some custom POIs as well? They do take some time for the unit to digest on first install.

Have you looked at how many satellites it's locking onto (when outside)?
Might be a dodgey antenna or the location you have it (assuming it's a puck antenna).

If GPS reception is fine, then which version unit have you got (under a proper VCDS scan)?
Might just be an older and slow unit.

Put a destination in and go for a drive mine didnt reorient until I did that but only took half a K to do it then

It picks up the SWL-CD and begins the install then after a reboot or two it searches for a SWL image, and then says "not a valid swl source"

Should I be able to update straight to 41xx from 27xx? or should I try an 3xxx or SW Downgrade first?

Burn it on a different disc at the slowest speed possible Use a DVD-or + R with IMGburn and you should have no trouble I had to go to 39xx and then to 4020 and 4120.

FYI This is a 'b' unit built june 2009, now updated with latest fw and maps. Cheers fellas!

Do you mean music has been wiped and you need to load from sdcard again?

Yeah, the hdd got wiped, no biggy though as the additions outweigh my crappy music collection.

Remember all loads here are generally customised by the good people here to have the 90/5/5 partition size split, so if you aren't running customised already, it will wipe to achieve this new position size arrangement.

Yes, understood and overall very happy with the update.

speed limits on maps - tick
F&R park assist whilst reversing - tick
different F&R sensor screen - tick

but, whem I do set up - version now, it no longer says its a B unit, but no says its a 'D' unit? wtf!

I might add that even tho mine is only a 'b' unit, with this latest fw and maps, route calculations and navigating around the screens is def quicker.

Its just the part number. The hardware is no different, refer to the hw version 0xC ..
That does not change.

Successfully updated my unit (3T0035680A)
Firmware 4120.
Installed map and personal POI's.
Whole process was smooth. thank you very much for great instructions
